I've been going through and doing my best to organize my #Music library in a standardized way, and I'm trying to get all of my files and folders looking like this. I've also gone through and similarly standardized all of the #ID3 tags.

Does anyone else get picky and a little bit ridiculous with the organization of files and/or music collections?

The pictures show how I organize my music collection. I'm using my Matthew Ebel folder as an example, because I just got it all nice and organized (#ID3 tags and all). I know there are some holes in the collection, which I'm doing my best to fill in.

"What do you mean you don't want your data, messages, and Internet usage monitored? Don't you care about the children?!"

This is one of the arguments that the #US and #EU are using right now to attempt to sway public opinion against encryption. They're calling tech/web organizations' resistance to government backdoors "hypocracy," because some companies have complied with repressive governments.

"But why not with *our* governments?!"

The usual Helen Lovejoy argument is being used to justify more snooping.

A more uplifting sight is some of the cycling infrastructure in #NewYorkCity. 🚲 🚲 🚲

It's been years since I've been to New York, and I've seen some pictures and videos online about how much cycling infrastructure has gone in. Much of it is imperfect, but man they're making progress.

More than once I saw #NYPD vehicles blocking the bike lanes (like in one of the photos below).

I don't travel much, but I was in New York City recently, and ended up on the highway outside of the city.

My partner found a Billy Joel CD ("Piano Man") in an abandoned shopping cart outside a local farmer's market. I went to rip the tracks off of it, and it turns out that it's got software on it.

Unfortunately, I did not succeed in installing #Apple #Computer #QuickTime for #Windows 2.1.2 using #Wine. 😆

I also noticed a Windows 3.1 installer for the software.

Hopefully this is before #Sony Music got into the #Spyware business.

It's just some basic #rsync stuff, but it does the job well and makes my file organization slightly less crazy to maintain.

It's been a while since I called out #Hallmark on here for their wastefulness. When cards don't sell, even the extra-expensive ones, they just go in the trash— along with all of the electronics inside. The same is true when they end up with too many.

We really should just all make our own cards, if we choose to give them as gifts.

I made a huge batch of Tuscan bean soup the other day, and it's already nearly gone.

My partner doesn't like the texture of celery, so I liquefied a package of celery rather than chopping it.

Also, I soaked more beans than I meant to... but it still came out delicious.

Who here uses #Coinstar?

I bumped into a man at the grocery store who used the Coinstar machine to trade his change in for $1.00.

He put in $1.15 to cover the ~13% fee at this location. Coinstar took $0.64 (55.6%) of his #Money, leaving him without the #Dollar bill he was hoping for.

This is yet another business that preys on #Poor people.

The Coinstar machine at this grocery store is, appropriately, right next to a #Lottery vending machine.

#Hallmark, as a company, is insanely wasteful. Multiple boxes of cards get thrown out every week at my local grocery store.

Look at all of the plastic, foil, these cardstock in there. I took these back in March when I was picking up a special order. At least a few boxes a week, just to keep the stock looking "fresh".
