CW: Physical injury - burst finger blister
Was all kitted up about to ride home from work before the storms come blasting through when I discovered punctured front tyre on the gravel bike.
No worries I’ve got tools and spare tubes, I’ll have this sorted quickly and hopefully dodge the rain. Or so I thought.
Found the glass shard in tyre and got the tube in no worries but I could not get the tyre bead over the rim. Snapped a tyre leaver and tore the skin of my thumbs trying. Had to call for a pick up of both me and the bike.
Back home and it took another half hour with fresh tyre leavers & a slather of dish soap to finally get the tyre on.
Annoyed at how hard this was, there is no way I could have done this on the side of the road in a storm.
Will order replacement tools and after seeing the rims are tubeless ready I’ll order tubeless valves and convert both wheels. A bit of review of diy & hints and tips videos is in order so I don’t have such a difficult time at the next puncture.
Oh and just in case the new tube has a hole from wrestling the tyre on, I’ve prepped the roadie as a back up for tomorrow morning.

I *FINALLY* finished the tune-up on my #bike - was down to just the cassette replacement when I absolutely got stuck and broke my whip. I had no desire to get to the point of shredding the flesh off my knuckles and making expensive sounds, and the kind folk at my local shop were able to help using the bench vise. So happy to be back on two wheels. I was nothing but smiles on my ride this morning. #cycling #bicycle #bikecommuting #yyj #yyjbike

Mal eine Frage an alle #fahrradpendler :
Wie transportiert ihr euer Zeug? Ich komme mit den kleinen #Rucksäcken speziell für Radler irgendwie gar nicht klar. Viel zu viele Fächer, viel zu wenig Platz....was schade ist, weil ich das Tragesystem zb der #vaude Rucksäcke echt gut finde.
Beim Pendeln liegt mein Rucksack im #lastenrad, da ist Tragesystem nicht wirklich wichtig. Robust muss er sein ( wg. der Hunde) und wasserdicht. Aber dann was anderes zum Wandern?!?
