Two more rare birds reported at the Nature Center, both out of seasonal range, both made the rare bird email list.
Osprey - Pandion haliaetus: A large fishing raptor that normally migrates through in spring and fall. Not significantly out of range, but early.
Brown Creeper - Certhia americana: A small tree creeper that is one of our winter birds. This is so far out of range, I had to check the sighting to make sure the person was well known and reliable.
Both may have been affected by fires and smoke in Canada.

Reachy Mini's emotions are pre-recorded, so they can feel repetitive. What if it generated them on the fly instead? :)
A project I gave at ENSEIRB-Matmeca, built by my student Anaelle Jaffre. She mapped emotion with the PAD model (Pleasure, Arousal, Dominance) plus heuristics and randomness, so "anger" comes out different each time.
The result is a bit weird, but I like it a lot. All the cool stuff is Anaelle's work :)

The prompt: a robot that wakes up confused about what it is and where it is, wanted to be a Mars rover, and is very disappointed to learn it is not. Irritable, but with a sense of humor.
Runs on the conversation app pipeline. The head wobble is generated live from the output sound: on/off by volume (with hysteresis), amplitudes scaling with volume.

I tried to out-stubborn Reachy Mini in the classic chain. The prompt told it to run all the classics, then once I ran out of ideas, to mock me and list every word I could have used instead, switching into languages we don't even speak. A crushing defeat for me.

My concern with agentic development is that more-and-more we will accept code that is not suitable for humans.
A lot of the properties of what I'd call "Good code" make possible failure states harder to ignore by making requirements more explicit.
These are often predicated on the fact that a human being will interact with the code.
When this stops being a requirement, you lose the incentive to shape code in a way that humans can work well with.
