Trump ogłosił wrogami wszystkich, którzy mówią „AI”, a Apple szykuje wielką premierę Apple Intelligence
Wtorek 13 października zapowiada się wyjątkowo interesująco. Apple organizuje prezentację nowych produktów, prawdopodobnie skupionych wokół inteligentnego domu i Apple Intelligence. Tymczasem Donald Trump właśnie ogłosił, że każdy, kto nadal używa określenia „Artificial Intelligence”, jest wrogiem Białego Domu. I nie, to nie jest żart.
W czwartek 8 października amerykański prezydent opublikował na Truth Social wpis, w którym stwierdził, że Biały Dom uznaje za wroga każdego, kto używa określenia „Artificial Intelligence” zamiast nowej, jego zdaniem znacznie trafniejszej nazwy „Super Intelligence”. Słowo „wróg” napisał oczywiście wielkimi literami.
Co ciekawe, nie jest to wyłącznie internetowa deklaracja. Już 29 września Trump podpisał rozporządzenie wykonawcze, nakazujące federalnej administracji zastąpienie AI skrótem SI, od Super Intelligence. Na szczęście dla całej branży technologicznej przepisy dotyczą administracji federalnej, a nie prywatnych firm.
Słoweński interes i polska sztuczna inteligencja
Historia ma jeszcze jeden, całkiem zabawny wątek. Domena internetowa .si należy do Słowenii, skąd pochodzi Melania Trump. Nowy skrót wymyślony przez jej męża przypadkowo stał się więc reklamą słoweńskiego internetu.
I to jaką! We wrześniu zarejestrowano ponad 46 tysięcy nowych domen .si, podczas gdy w sierpniu było ich zaledwie 3515. Spekulanci już wykupują atrakcyjne adresy, licząc na powtórkę sukcesu domen .ai, należących do Anguilli. Nie ma jednak dowodów, że rodzina Trumpów jest zaangażowana w ten biznes. Powiązanie jest na razie wyłącznie geograficzne i rodzinne.
A teraz najlepsze. W Polsce od lat używamy przecież skrótu SI, który oznacza po prostu „sztuczną inteligencję”. Dokładnie to samo, co angielskie Artificial Intelligence, czyli określenie, które Trump właśnie postanowił wyeliminować. Nasze polskie SI nie ma więc nic wspólnego z jego Super Intelligence, chociaż przypadkowo idealnie pasuje do nowej amerykańskiej nomenklatury. Można powiedzieć, że w Polsce byliśmy o krok przed Trumpem, zanim jeszcze wpadł na swój pomysł. Tyle że my pod tymi samymi dwiema literami rozumiemy dokładnie to, czego on nie chce już słyszeć. Cóż za piękny językowy paradoks!
Apple Intelligence czy Apple Super Intelligence?
I tutaj dochodzimy do wtorkowej premiery Apple. Według przecieków zobaczymy nowe centrum zarządzania inteligentnym domem z ekranem, odświeżonego HomePoda mini i Apple TV. Fundamentem tych urządzeń ma być nowa Siri, korzystająca z Apple Intelligence.
Tylko że Apple ma pewną przewagę. Jego AI od początku oznacza przecież Apple Intelligence, a nie Artificial Intelligence. Czy zatem firma z Cupertino może spokojnie ignorować nowe nazewnictwo Białego Domu? Formalnie tak. Tylko czy Trumpowi spodoba się takie tłumaczenie?
Wyobrażam sobie prezentację, podczas której Apple kilkadziesiąt razy wymienia Apple Intelligence, a prezydent USA publikuje w tym czasie kolejny wpis, tym razem skierowany bezpośrednio do Cupertino.
Oczywiście to tylko żart. Choć jeszcze niedawno pomysł, że amerykańska administracja będzie urzędowo zmieniać nazwę sztucznej inteligencji, też brzmiał jak żart.
Najbardziej ironiczne jest jednak to, że w świecie technologii „superinteligencja” ma już konkretne znaczenie. Oznacza hipotetyczną sztuczną inteligencję przewyższającą możliwości człowieka. Nie wystarczy więc zmienić dwóch liter, żeby dzisiejsze systemy nagle stały się superinteligentne.
Czekam na wtorek. Apple szykuje nam nowy rozdział inteligentnego domu, a Donald Trump być może właśnie rozpoczyna nową wojnę o dwie litery alfabetu.
AI czy SI? W Polsce już dawno wybraliśmy SI. Tylko z zupełnie innego powodu.

Anyone else still think of the command (⌘) key as the apple key? In English it's command for me, but in Finnish it's "omppu" (colloquial form of "omena" for apple). So I take screenshots with shift-omppu-4, copy with omppu-C, paste with omppu-V, and so on.
It's been quite a while since the keys had an apple on them, but I don't feel it changing for me any time soon. I guess also because there's no good word I'd use for ⌘ and "komento" sounds stupid and more difficult to say.
