  1. "But but but compared to my Core i9 fighter jet, your old Intel Xeon is slow to compile adblocking lists on the fly! 🧐"

Well, my standard is Firefox (w/ uBlock Origin) that loads those websites in less than 500 milliseconds at all times on the same CPU 🤷

Ideally we need something more efficient for content filters in #WebKit. It would certainly have a big impact for #LinuxMobile processing speed & battery life. Imagine underpowered mobile chips having to bruteforce through this 😬

  2. Safari on iOS 26 (including up to iOS 26.5) is rendering Display P3 colours specified using the color() function as sRGB 🤦‍♂️

    e.g. Compare sRGB red ff0000 and P3 red color(display-p3 1 0 0)…

    firewave.com.au/temp/safari_co

In Safari on iOS 18 and earlier, the P3 red is correctly much brighter than the sRGB red.

In Safari on iOS 26 (and up to iOS 26.5) it’s identical to the sRGB red.

(Safari 26 on macOS 15.7 is correct - not sure about macOS 26)

  7. Any #WebKit people know why Safari on iOS 26 renders P3 colours using the color(display-p3 ... ) function differently to how they render on IOS 18? It looks like it’s clamping them to sRGB on iOS 26.

    e.g. This green looks totally different on iOS 26 vs iOS 18: color(display-p3 0 0.537 0.294)

Meanwhile Safari 26 on macOS 15.7 looks correct (not sure about on macOS 26.x). Unfortunately I can’t capture it in a screenshot on iOS.

It has taken years and several attempts, but it looks like this bug with Safari’s Web Inspector (which I would run into every day!) might now actually be fixed in Safari Technology Preview 243. Here’s the commit that also details the race condition that caused it:
