  1. This marks my 100th #SailfishOS toot! And what better way to celebrate it... @jolla has just released the major update 5.1 (Pispala): forum.sailfishos.org/t/release

This represents a major rework and update of many libraries and more. And is a release for the future. I’m so looking forward to the next 100 toots!

  11. PSA for distributions that use an older phoc with current phosh:

Starting from Phosh 0.56.0 (planned release date 2026-07-05) components like stevia (and likely phosh) will depend on phoc >= 0.55 (and thus #wlroots 0.20).

While it was always recommended to have the versions of the components of the stack in sync, some distros use phoc as old as 0.44.0 / wlroots 0.17 (from 2024). This already causes various issues for users but the session would at least start.

This won't be the case for 0.56.0 and later versions, unless you revert the changes. For 0.56 this will be rather small changes but it will become more involved over time so please update the compositor.

You can completely ignore this message if phosh, phoc and stevia are the same version.

  16. Just updated my Fairphone 5 ArchLinux packages to the latest call audio kernel/ucm/q6voiced versions and I'm happy to confirm call audio now seems to work out of the box without major issues.

Thanks to the work done by @valpackett, the bottom speaker is no longer firing for me during calls (producing an echo). That was my last known issue.

Hopefully this can be upstreamed to soon, I think people are going to enjoy this.

  26. @etbe Yes battery life is short - just around 5 hours if auto suspend is not used. However, I've found that poor battery life is an easy problem to work around with no technical knowledge.

I simply have a charger everywhere (house, car, work) and charge when it's below 50%.

When I can't plug in to a charger, I use those tiny Anker Nano wireless power banks to charge while it's in my pocket or even while I'm using it.
