I am exploring my new Jolla Phone and found that there is an unofficial Sailfish OS Signal client named WhisperFish.
Has anyone tried this? I am planning to register the Jolla Phone as a secondary device, until I am more comfortable with it.

Great attention to details by @jolla - high quality screen protector with privacy filter (really smooth for swipe gestures). It doesn't end there, the screen protector comes with an applicator! Great for someone like me who can never do a successful application on the first try. Lastly, decision paralysis on which TOH to outfit the #JollaPhone on my trip to Slovenia!

So I ordered a #jollaphone (2026), and it was delivered last month.
I tried very hard to get it to work. But there are virtually no communication apps in the store, the maps app cannot fetch any location, the promised android apps just straight up do not work, and the device has an annoying pulsating light on the backside that cannot be switched off.
I opened bug reports, but received no help.
I contacted #jolla directly for repairs, and received no answer.
I am disappointed.
I tested #sailfishos on a sony xperia iii a few years ago, and it was nice, apart from the abyssmal call quality. I thought that would be better on their own hardware. But no. -

@molan @poetaster OK, taking release early, release often a bit too far ... 1.4.2 was quickly superseded by 1.4.3 which dealt with a bug introduced by 1.4.2, go figure. This release fixes a translations issue and finally properly handles links from the masto account plugin. Sigh. #tooter #SailfishOs

Announcing ver. 1.4.2 of #tooter, your' friendly neighborhood #Sailfishos masto client. Mostly bug fixes but with initial handling of masto account notification links. Odd handling. We are all my guinea pigs :-) coming to chum & harbour and with assistance from @molan to open repos. If you wish, wait for proper link resolution in a couple of weeks.

I have been a long time on Mastodon, and with my iPhone I have switched between clients before I ended up on Ivory. With the switch to Jolla Phone as my primary phone I’ve started tooting more and more from Tooter β (https://openrepos.net/content/molan/tooter-v). This brilliant client has more or less all the features I need. I have also activated the built-in Mastodon Account Integration for SailfishOS for toots in the Notification window.

Announcing version 1.3.5 of #tooter your friendly #SailfishOs mastodon client. Bug fix release for Search (tags/persons) and internal link resolution bug.
Also announcing versino 1.0.6 of the DWD, German weather service, app which adds the ability to organize stored locations and corrects location header displays for long place names. Exciting. Truly exciting stuff.
Both are built on github, dwd is live in chum, tooter is coming to chum and the harbour queue seems to be ....

Announcing version 1.3.3. of #tooter your friendly neighbourhood #SailfishOs mastodon client. This version contains fixes for poll views (again) preview cards and updates Italian, Swedish and French translations. Slowly getting all the bugs out.

Tooter mis à jour (1.3.2 numéroté 1.3.1 mais avec des sommes de contrôle différentes). Plus du tout de problèmes par rapport à la version 1.3.1 précédente, mais la traduction fr a sauté. Je l’ai extraite de la version 1.3.1 et l’ai collé dans /usr/share/haarbour-tooterb/translations
Il y a juste "My profile" qui n’est pas traduit dans le "pulley menu" (je connais pas son équivalent en français. Le menu accessible en tirant depuis le haut de l’application, pas le menu supérieur depuis le haut de l’écran).

Announcing a ,#tooter the #SailfishOs masto client update. 1.3.1 rolls back numerous 1.3.0 api changes while keeping all the new features. I hope. This should be more stable and make it easier to get multi account pixelfed support back on track. Now in chum testing and up on https://github.com/poetaster/harbour-tooter. Oh yeah. I'm faster than claude.

Trying to use my #JollaC2 more. Not quite a daily driver, but using it when I want to disconnect (as it disconnects from wifi often 😆). The lag makes me doom scroll less. It's still clunky, but ebooks are fine on the big screen. Just downloaded #Kalevala! Well made #SailfishOS apps are a joy to use.

@jgibbon old or otherwise, I agree with your nitpicking list! :D
The original JP01 was just a joy to hold, with the two-halves design, great size (slightly bigger is ok, like the first community phone #JollaC, but not huge like C2), and laggy or not you just want to keep the phone in your hand. Not so with the #JollaC2 for reasons you stated.
Now that @jolla is planning the #nextgenjollaphone with input from community, there's hope for nicer HW to match #SailfishOS! https://forum.sailfishos.org/t/next-gen-jolla-phone-update-11-25/25503

#SailfishOS update on my #JollaC2. I wish I could enjoy Sailfish more on this device like I did with previous devices but the C2 is just slow and laggy enough to put me off. Or maybe I'm getting old and cranky. Anyway, #nextgenjollaphone sounds promising! Looking forward to the progress.
