Prometí que haría un vídeo más completo del nuevo @jolla y aquí está. Es mitad reseña de lo que es el propio dispositivo, así como la historia y la filosofía que comparten desde la empresa finlandesa. No pretende ser una reseña completa de especificaciones (que han hecho otros compañeros, los cuales voy a enlazar ahora), sino intentar llegar a más gente para concienciar de cómo un sistema alternativo como este es necesario en Europa.

Hello world, greetings from my new #JollaPhone :) Life looks quite stunning, I must say! My biggeat gripe currently is that #Jolla changed home screen large tiles from good old 2x3 layout to 2x2 while leaving empty bit at the bottom. But can live with this :D

So sehr ich Betriebssystemen wie /e/OS oder GrapheneOS Erfolg wünsche, aber je tiefer ich in die Materie einsteige, desto weniger kann ich AOSP-basierte Systeme als de-googled ansehen. (AOSP = Android Open Source Project)

Google hat praktisch die volle Kontrolle über das Projekt und kann den Zugang zu dessen Code jederzeit beschränken oder beenden.

Wenn der Macht von Big Tech tatsächlich etwas entgegengesetzt werden soll, geht das nicht ohne Projekte wie #sailfishos

Jolla 2026 phone arrived.

Trouble sofar:
- Transferring #Signal backup. Rrequires updating Signal on Android and SailfishOS to _exactly_ the same version _before_ making a backup, or the restoration will fail. Fixed now
- Logging into an existing Brawl Stars account because Google reCAPTCHA device attestation no longer works on non-Google devices (MicroG, Graphene). Workaround: use the clipboard to copy-paste email and activation code into the fields. Working, but not fixed.

It is, but it's running a custom #SailfishOS setup, IIRC.

Pretty competitively priced compared to other niche phones, not so much compared to random modern dumbphones (which are usually bad for privacy)

Casi nadie conoce este móvil y este sistema operativo, pero sin embargo puede ser el futuro de Europa. @jolla con #SailfishOS , una marca finlandesa que lleva ya muchos años en el mercado peleando por crear un sistema operativo alternativo a Android e iOS.

Me ha llegado a casa el nuevo dispositivo después de que los fundadores originales de #Jolla recompraran la empresa tras venderla en la época Covid, y quieren empujar más fuerte que nunca. Este vídeo era originalmente para una comunidad en Telegram de Sailfish OS, dado que he sido de los primeros en tener el móvil nuevo. Pero por si resulta interesante en Mastodon, que hay mucha gente en busca de más privacidad y menos jugarretas de Google o Apple, os lo comparto por aquí, y compartiré mañana el análisis de este dispositivo.

@bmv Ich habe für den Scheiß 5€ umsonst ausgegeben, nur, weil Sie NIRGENDS angegeben hatte, daß man zur Benutzung dieser App außerdem noch einen Vertrag mit Google oder Apple braucht. Obendrein habe ich Tage gebraucht, um genau das herauszufinden, da beim "support" zumindest per Email erstmal nur eine KI mit Standartantworten daherkommt - und der Fehler in der App völlig unspezifisch ist.
Im Grunde hätte ich da gerne mein Geld wieder zurück, weil SIE es vermuxt haben.

For those who are not familiar with the #SailfishOS, it is a RPM-based linux distribution that is "mostly" OpenSource (some UI and Android compatibility stuff and drivers are not [yet] FLOSS).

SailfishOS itself has an official store with some apps such as email, calendar, and mastodon. It also supports opening Android apps (F-droid, Aura Store + microG). There are also other RPM stores that are not official such as Chum and OpenRepos, but these two more or less can suffer from AUR issues.

Mail, calendar, contacts and photos are already on private servers.
