Fantastic read! I am also trying to migrate completely towards #SailfishOS.
In the spare time I am working on a Hauk fork in Laravel to implement some additional features, while maintaining compatibility with current Hauk client.
Is it you that wrote the Hauk client for SailfishOS?

@lorenzo @HoSnoopy It is probably just a bump in the road, due to the heavy lifting with getting new toolchains in place. You still got the integration into conversations Settings > Accounts > Add account > XMMP in 5.2 and I have several xmpp accounts configured since beginning of time at least before #MeeGoHarmattan time. #SailfishOS

This morning I continued my journey configuring the new Jolla Phone. I use Signal, and Wisperfish is a must-have native secure chat client. And, and, and I am doing the Norwegian bokmål translations for the app!

If your goal is to strengthen an independent European mobile OS and not rely entirely on Android, then #SailfishOS is better.

How is #sailfishos wrt app compatibility? I'm worried not being able to run banking apps is going to be a deal breaker for me. -
I have been a long time on Mastodon, and with my iPhone I have switched between clients before I ended up on Ivory. With the switch to Jolla Phone as my primary phone I’ve started tooting more and more from Tooter β (https://openrepos.net/content/molan/tooter-v). This brilliant client has more or less all the features I need. I have also activated the built-in Mastodon Account Integration for SailfishOS for toots in the Notification window.

After the usual grind re-setting everything up again, restoring backups, etc. I have everything I need set up now (except :nixos: #nix 🤓)
I am *very* happy with this phone. It's such a massive upgrade to the broken (or non-broken) Xperia 10iii phones I have been daily-driving with #SailfishOS for far too long now. 😅
- 🤩 double-tap to wake like in good old times
- 🤩 fingerprint unlock
- 🤩 dang it's fast and smooth!
- 🤩 configurable (privacy) switch on the side -
@jolla today announced they will provide AppSupport for the SFOS community ports for Sony Xperia 10 IV and V!

I just had to try it! Wow! A sailor has ported Gecko ESR140 (Firefox) and released it in a first alpha.

@jolla So, adding mobile data to the prepaid and then doing a device reset _did_ make it recognize both the mobile and the wifi network. Enabling both made the setup app crash. The app restarted, but threw me back into the fingerprint scanner routine.
In the middle of fingerprint scanning, I apparently pressed a bit too hard, and the phone locked. And I while I can swipe from top to bottom, I cannot swipe left and right - and buttons on the pull-down menu don't register.

there was an update for the jolla phone 2. it went smoothly, and i get the impression that the battery time of my phone has now improved.
bluetooth still is very bad. once connected the headset stays connected. the headset shows a connection, it tells me it's connected, and the connection is shown in the phone's bluetooth setting. but there is no sound output. getting sound requires seemingly random starts, stops of bluetooth service, headphone reconnects, start stop of audio source. it can take several minutes and has to be redone every time when the headphone is to be connected.
so improvement is possible @jolla
