  6. @justsoup I'm very sorry to hear that you're feeling this way. But let's remember: We are doing our thing, and we are doing it at our pace. We keep growing as a project and as a the Mobile Linux community, we keep going over milestones, sometimes blazingly fast, sometimes doing a lot of weird curves. But always towards sustainable long-term support and user power. If we are not ready for them, that's fine, we can continue on our path. The difference between the people discovering #postmarketOS #Mobian #Phosh or whatever other Linux Mobile project now and complaining, and those of us that invested so much time on it, is that we know the history.

10 years ago people that discovered the project complained that a 10-year lifecycle for phones was impossible. Then they complained that "what about phone calls". Then they complained that mainline was a waste of time, nobody could ever convince vendors or reverse-engineer things on time. Then and still today, they complained that "what about cameras". And now people complain about actually and *for-real* replacing Android, and that "what about card payments". But every time the goal posts were moved, the Linux Mobile community had remarkably grown on size. Newcomers and outsiders will keep moving the goal posts. But we will keep moving forward, and getting more and more people to join us in our path.

  11. @juliavithoria

    That's interesting! Now I'm curious:

What effect does #Pix have on #privacy? When paying #cash, it's only between two parties, vendor and client. What does know Pix about financial transactions?

Could Pix lock out people from their system and making their life hard? Foreigners visiting #Brazil cannot use it, I guess?

It seems, that an Android or iOS smartphone is required for most or many use cases, right? No chance with a #mobileLinux phone, e.g. #postmarketOS or #Mobian?

  16. @okias @pine64 @agx @[email protected] @mobian

The processing power of my PinePhone (non-pro) is just fine for me. I mean, it's a telephone! Not a workstation.

It's barely usable IRL, though, because it eats battery like it were a workstation 😞

If #Fairphone (or whatever is supported by #Mobian and has 3.5 mm jack) gave me at least 12 h, better 16 h, standby I would consider replacing my PP with it.

  21. @zachary @murena @[email protected] @postmarketOS @mobian

I hope, that my preferred mobile OS, #Mobian, will support it at some point. So far, #Fairphone 4 and 5 are only experimental:

    wiki.debian.org/Mobian/Devices

#postmarketOS, which is pretty similar, does support FP4 at least:

Out of curiosity: I wanted to try it, but I can't find a version for my OS (#Debian or #Mobian). No plans to support anything other than Android?

  36. @n1xnx @adamgreenfield @jessamyn My old Motorola phone that had not had OS updates for a couple of years got Gemini installed on it about a year ago. I deleted it.

I only use the thing now with a couple of apps needed to support my remaining elderly parent with their affairs in another country.

Otherwise I am more than happy to limit myself to a dumb phone for calls, texts and alarms (needs charging once a week, if that) and a couple of PinePhones running #mobian for internet stuff.
