Currently in #Sweden transporting my remaining elderly parent to one of my siblings who lives in the country.
Waiting for breakfast in a hotel surfing the interwebs using a twenty year old #macbook running #LinuxMint with my internet connection supplied by a #PinePhone Pro running @mobian
My elderly parent is surfing the interwebs on an eight year old @tuxedocomputers laptop running a fresh install of LinuxMint.
Rock solid connection. Fully FOSS solution.

Wow #maemoleste is smooth af on #pinephone ! UX is not "modern", but it is surprisingly good. I was expecting much worse. Animations never stutter, apps (default ones like settings, xterm, pdfreader etc) open reasonably fast, and it never goes above 500MB memory usage! I love it!
This might be the perfect OS for me! But I am gonna give #lomiri a shot anyway.

#pinephone sucks in performance, since my wifi replacement will hopefully get to me soon, I am gonna invest a bit more in it. Gonna try Maemo Leste, quick searching around tells this is the lowest resource hungry #linuxmobile OS around. I am kinda gravitating toward #permacomputing these days, so it feels right

While you are right about the disadvantages of the #Halium approach, I would not dismiss it entirely. Because it's a way to get the beauty of the Linux user space to people who just don't have a #PinePhone, #Librem5, or #OnePlus and can't afford another phone. To have progress in the mobile UI, e.g. #Phosh, it's helpful to have as many devices and users as possible. Halium is not the goal, but a step away from Android, towards #Mobian or #PMOS!

Today, I attempted to do a release upgrade of #PostmarketOS on my #PinePhone. I started out with errors on two packages which prevented the upgrade from happening (and which weren't fixable with "apk fix").
Uninstalling those -- fortunately not critical -- and I got the upgrade script to run. Now I'm left with a console login on the phone screen, with no on-screen keyboard. I think a reinstall is in order.
I remain sadly unconvinced by the usability (at all) of PostmarketOS.

🌍 Filmbook now has a translation project! 🌐
I’m happy to announce that Filmbook now has a proper translation project set up:
https://translate.codeberg.org/projects/filmbook/
Feel free to add your language and start translating the app into it. Every contribution helps make Filmbook more accessible to analog photography enthusiasts worldwide!
Built with Rust & GTK4/libadwaita, Filmbook is designed for desktop Linux and Linux phones.
@[email protected], thank you for providing the infrastructure!

@cynical13 I have two #Pinetime smartwatches. One died after a year or so, one after one week (!). To this day, @pine64eu ghosts these warranty cases. We also had to trash a now broken #PinePower USB charging station. My #Pinephone is still working though. But the quality is pretty subpar.

#pine64 support seem to be trolling me. I reported that wifi chip stopped working within ~15 minutes, and their response so far has been:
- Gaslight me and try to convince me there is no problem
- Try to convince me my phone wasn't charged enough for wifi+bt chip to work.
- Try to convince me that even though battery is charged, it doesn't have "enough voltage" just for this one chip while everything else works
It is almost as if they just want me to go away and stop complaining.

#SailfishOS on the @pine64 #Pinephone, #PinephonePro and #Pinetab2 are all updated to kernel 7.0, and improved USB config. Just zypper ref/dup.
