So there we go, first picture taken on postmarketOS with decent colors. There are a lot of issues still, for example, the camera app gets stuck after taking a couple of pictures. The preview jumps around weirdly and despite using GPU debayering, the CPU is quite busy, which means the phone gets pretty warm quickly. Also, the code is a mess. I am amazed it works at all though. As mentioned at the beginning, it’s mostly Claude coding #mobilelinux #pixel9a

More progress here, and a big one. I installed #GrapheneOS on my #Pixel9a, something I've been putting off for weeks.

The install process was simple and took hardly any time at all. The hard part was setting up apps without having the old phone to refer to.

I did run into a few app incompatibilities - Strava straight up refuses to login, one banking app too, most of my other banking apps actually required DISABLING security features.

But otherwise it's fine, and runs just like before.

This is a bit annoying: the phone doesn’t have a working RTC at the moment, so each time I flash @postmarketOS the system time falls back to the build time of systemd (?). The problem is that even when connecting to WiFi/mobile data, NTP won’t sync because it can’t resolve the NTP pool‘s IP because DNSSEC validation fails - due to the wrong time. A working RTC time source should usually fix that, but any device without a valid time has a 🐓🥚 problem. #mobilelinux #pixel9a
