  6. How good is the PineTab2? I've been reading up a little on the Pine64 forums. I have had a PinePhone for a few years now so I have some experience with Pine64 devices.

From what I can gather, for the default OS there have been issues with Bluetooth and Wifi. How stable/usable is the default OS?

I am interested in using mobian/Phosh on the device as that is what I am most familiar with.

Are there any particular gotchas with mobian on the PineTab2?

  7. We've just tagged and relesed phoc 0.55~alpha1 🥳. This is basically 0.54.0 but using the recently released #wlroots 0.20.0 instead of 0.19.3. Please give it a try!

  8. I have a couple of Android devices running vanilla Android UIs.

    I hardly ever use them.

On the other hand I use mobian/Phosh on my PinePhones every day.

On the odd occasions I have to use an Android device I now find myself trying to navigate the Android UI in the same way as Phosh.

So when the Android device does not respond correctly to a Phosh UI action it only increases the frustration I feel when using Android.

Soon I will be free of Android.

  13. Lilbits: Pebble smartwatches, Linux 7.0, and the uncertain future for Lenovo Legion Go graphics drivers

If you’ve got a PC that works, there’s not that much reason to worry about getting frequent driver updates unless you want to plug in some currently unsupported hardware. But if you’ve got a gaming PC, then frequent driver updates can be pretty important, as NVIDIA, AMD, and Intel often tweak graphics drivers to add support for new games and improve performance for existing titles.

  24. #Phosh and Phoc had nightlight support since ages but the only phone with out of the box gamma LUT support that could make use of it so far was the #PinePhone.

Thanks to @fizzo 's kernel work it works on Qualcomm based phones too now and makes the (optional) night light quick toggle useful on way more devices and looking at the bright AMOLED displays at night much more pleasant.

Demo below is on a #SHIFT6mq.

  27. Apart from that we had some #Cellbroadcast related fixes in #phosh and the
pomodoro plugin can now automatically start on unlock.

The #Wayland compositor #Phoc gained initial sysprof support, a debug
option to damage the whole output and we fixed several crashes.

  29. Sicelo brought #phosh to the venerable #N900 using #wlroot's pixman renderer as backend. It's not snappy as the device is too underpowered for that but awesome that it works !

    #LinuxMobile #gtk

  30. #Phosh's compositor #phoc got updated to the latest stable #wlroots release 0.19.0 giving us all the goodies from there. Apart from that it now remembers your phone's display resolution in case you want something different than the calculated default. It also supports adaptive sync now and gained support for protocols like shortcuts-inhibit.

  32. Happy new year everyone!

    phosh 0.44.1 is out 🚀📱 :

This is a small bug fix release containing stability fixes for and that shouldn't wait 'til 0.45.0. Most of them (but not all) address issues introduced in 0.44.0.

Check out the release notes at phosh.mobi/releases/rel-0.44.1/.

  33. @agx The discoverable button for taking apps out of fullscreen has now landed (including a fix for to not crash when doing so 😃 ). This should help apps that don't expose an easy to discover way to unfullscreen them (without resorting to workarounds like using the OSK or spawning another app).

  34. phosh 0.42.1 is out 🚀📱:

This is a bug fix release addressing important issues in and that shouldn't wait 'til 0.43.0. Check out the release notes at phosh.mobi/releases/rel-0.42.1/. It also adds the release of phosh-osk-data which was a bit late for 0.42.0.

  35. Was excited about this project/company but just an FYI for others following the #LinuxMobile space, #Furilabs founder's position on #FOSS in his own words:
"i don't really care about stuff being foss"
Caring about stuff working and having a FOSS-only or a FOSS-first approach are not mutually exclusive, of course. Still hopeful though that they will benefit the ecosystem.
