Digital Sovereignty isn't just for nations!
Now that the desktop has reached The Final Shape we turn attention to our homelabs.
Been making great progress on this, we're at v .8. This one is boring. Knuckle just installs flatcar.
But we want cloud native magic so we're building "Bluefin Server" but not sure on the name. And it'll run flatcar, and in there your magical bootc factory runs and your bluebuild just worked ootb. And the Fedora one will come with coreOS, tekton, forgejo, konflux, etc.
A place for both - if we design the homeserver and desktop as one unified WHOLE, we could do a ton more stuff. The tech is already finished.

I've been experimenting with #Linux VMs on #macOS using #UTM. Two #Debian VMs, both on Apple's hypervisor, one with QEMU, the other with Apple's #Virtualization backend. Both are running Apache with PHP stack, boot with less than 200MB RAM in use, running Debian's cloud kernel.
The VM with QEMU boots in about 4 seconds, the full Apple stack VM boots in about 2 seconds. A full blown Linux environment with a container-like startup time.

Personally aside from Cronos: The New Dawn, I've been playing on stream, personally I've been playing God Of War (2018) and it has been an immense joy to see the Ghost Of Sparta once more. This has been in between both my PC and Legion Go.

It's news to me that #Microsoft now recommends migrating away from Active Directory. I'm wondering if the #Linux Foundation (or any well-funded competitor to microsoft, who favors Open Source) has noticed this, and has plans to develop or offer an #OpenSource alternative for Active Directory, which isn't owned or controlled by Microsoft in any way? #infosec #eu #germany

UPDATE - I've updated my entry on the status of Ubuntu and CVE-2026-46333. The official Ubuntu security bulletin presents conflicting information, which also conflicts with Canonical's own Luci Stanescu about the subject.
My recommendation: set `kernel.yama.ptrace_scope` to at least 2 anyway unless you *need* unprivileged users to have ptrace access. Better to be safe than sorry.

So as of yesterday, 90 days have passed with my entire #homelab in a "single stack" all running atop an M1 mac mini. Under 30 watts total power consumption, 4 VMs and dozens of services in containers. Zero issues.
