Habe mir #omarchy #Linux heruntergeladen. Mit 6,2 GB die bislang dickste Distro. Danach sollte noch #MXLinux als #Debian Alternative aufs Notebook wandern, doch brach der Download wegen "Datenträger voll" ab. WAS?!!!? Nicht mit meinen Daten. Das können nur temporäre Dateien von #pacman #pikaur oder sonstwas sein. Damit war mein Geduldsfaden gerissen … "ein Mann sieht rot".

Bin dann Einkaufen gefahren. Sonnenschein und kalte Luft kühlten das Gemüt wieder runter 😎

Nach Aufräumen der Festplatte tröpfelte MXLinux langsam rein. Abgebrochen! Habe noch andere versucht, aber mal ehrlich: ihr könnt euch eure #sourceforge Downloads sonstwo hinstecken 🤬 🤯

@frameworkcomputer Framework's continued commitment to "deliberately create a big tent" is paying off.

More than a month since the last public statement comment from Framework on the subject and they still haven't distanced themselves from this guy.

I could foresee some smaller tweaks here and there (#zsh with #zim framework as default shell, synced theme changes in #bat, #fzf, #eza and bunch of others, #nnn as the file manager to follow the TUI focus etc., #zen as the main web browser), but these can be customized fairly easily already in the main #omarchy distro. Switching the distro itself and the main filesystem powering it would require some heavy lifting 🤔

For the past few weeks, I've been playing around with the #omarchy #arch #linux operating system, and I appreciate its clean design and ease of use from minute one.

⚠️ When I downloaded the .iso, I had no opinions about its controversial author, David Heinemeier Hansson, so I genuinely tried the operating system without prejudice.

✅ After a while, I removed the pieces of software I didn't need and added a few things. It worked.

🤔 If I must offer criticism, I'm somewhat skeptical about the #chromium choice and the OS boot times (but I have an old Thinkpad, so maybe that's on me). I still haven't tried setting up the VPN properly. And I'm still making mistakes with #lazyvim.

🤓 That said, I really appreciate in-depth technical reviews like this one by マリウス (https://マリウス.com/a-word-on-omarchy/).

🧞‍♀️ I think perhaps some arch-wizard team could create a sort of #omarchy with less improvised solutions and a more solid architecture, particularly from a #security standpoint. Also, something not coming out from a company repo.

I'm sure someone will give it a shot - because #omarchy looks really good at first sight. I can't wait to see the result.

Testing Omarchy 3.0.2 an Arch based with Hyprland that really hypes lately. Very nice experience and I agree with most of reviewer, this is indeed super cool distro. I installed WINE with ease and able to play Need for Speed Underground smoothly.

I'm going to reiterate a point I made in someone else's thread - anyone who remembers windows 7 or 8 before they ended up on windows 10 has a far greater understanding that there is not only one UI design than someone who's only ever used Windows 10 / 11.

My mum is 75 and I just moved her onto Ubuntu. She is delighted. Her laptop is flying rather than taking forever to do anything, and she has her lace and cross stitch apps there under wine.

She excitedly tells her fellow rafters, stitches and lace makers. Of which she is a youngster.

I've been around since MSDOS 6.22.
The stumbling block for moving to Linux is largely the generation below me that didn't have the seismic shifts in UI, it makes coping with a new interface feel more of an imposition.

For work I use #Ubuntu with the #regolith desktop. At home I have use #debian, #antix and have recently discovered #omarchy so #ISortOfUseArch

I saw a YT clip about Kitty, which is an alternative to Alacritty (the default terminal in Omarchy), and I have to say it is really nice in Kitty as it runs off the GPU. This means it can show me previews of images right there in the TUI.
