  3. Posting this here since I bet I won't be the only person confused by this:

I updated my phone to last night. At lunch today I was using Safari and couldn't figure out where my bookmarks went. There was a very obvious tab button, but no way I could see to show me my bookmarks.

Turns out, when you've got set to have tabs in "Compact" layout, the only way to see your bookmarks is to open a new tab. Then you can access them from the top of the screen along with some other stuff. If you change the setting from "Compact" to "Bottom", then it puts a button for bookmarks at the bottom of the screen.

I rarely open new tabs in Safari for iOS, so it would have taken me a very long time to discover this!

What is the best ad blocker for Safari?

Sometimes I use it alongside Firefox, and I'd like to know what the best ad blocker is for it. I've heard of AdGuard and uBlock Origin?

  10. A Safari….in Connecticut!?

Action Wildlife in Goshen, CT felt like a little trip to Africa without a passport. 🦒We had such a fun time visiting this safari and feeding the animals. The Canadian wildfires were happening during our visit, creating this really ominous glow.It also reminded me so much of Lion Country Safari in West Palm Beach, Florida, another place I loved. I really like that you can drive through Action Wildlife too, but we chose to walk and get our steps in.If you’re looking for something different […]

I’m trying to install as little third-party software on this laptop as possible, so it would be a good idea to try to use Safari rather than installing a third-party browser, right? [Narrator: this was not a good idea.]

Which Place Is Best for a 4-Day Trip in India? Top Destinations for a Short Vacation in 2026-27

India is one of the few countries where a four-day trip can deliver an extraordinary mix of history, wildlife, culture, luxury, and adventure. Whether you dream of standing before the iconic Taj Mahal, spotting Bengal tigers in the wild, exploring royal palaces, or experiencing luxury travel, India offers countless options for a memorable short getaway. But with so many destinations to choose from, travelers often ask: Which place is best for a 4-day trip in India? The answer depends on […]

It has taken years and several attempts, but it looks like this bug with Safari’s Web Inspector (which I would run into every day!) might now actually be fixed in Safari Technology Preview 243. Here’s the commit that also details the race condition that caused it:

"The government of #Tanzania evict #Maasai communities from supposed #conservation areas. It's ethnic cleansing for #safari business.

'"I unpacked the ways in which the Tanzanian authorities, in collaboration with global conservation and tourism actors, have implemented policies forcing Maasai communities to abandon their ancestral lands. This was done through conservation management plans that undermine the interests of local communities and traditional livelihoods. The ability of the Maasai to meet their needs was also limited, for instance through restricting their access to social services.

"'As a result, nearly all the 100,000 Maasai living within the Ngorongoro conservation area face extreme poverty.'"

  19. Oh, good: Safari (and anything that uses WebKit) is suddenly broken under Sequioa on my main Mac. All content—remote, local network, local file—just produces endless attempts to reload (in some cases) a warning that a page was reloaded because an error occurred.

No Safari extensions installed. And it happens with other apps that use WebKit. You know, like Mail.

Wanna see a web page Safari can't handle? Amazing.

  21. How do I re-download a previous version of Safari Technology Preview? 192 is broken, frequent "This webpage was reloaded because a problem occurred" and losing the login (private browsing).

  22. Hmm, it seems the Web Inspector in Safari (including in Safari Technology Preview) doesn’t know about the hanging and each-line keywords of the text-indent property.

Instead, it still lists -webkit-each-line and -webkit-hanging, neither of which actually even works now.

Maybe it never got updated when Safari started supporting the unprefixed versions?

Also, Firefox finally supports these keywords (since December), but Chrome still doesn’t!

  23. Hi @jensimmons, I would like to ask something. I use Safari for my personal things but I would like to use Safari Technology Preview for work. What do you think? Is Safari TP stable enough? Thank you very much! 🙏 #safari #safaritechnologypreview #askforadvice

  24. @rmondello I _think_ this worked a bit better in Technology Preview 162 when trying to log in to my local server. (I can’t be sure because I could not successfully enable in the tech preview.) I have HA MFA enabled (home-assistant.io/docs/authent). The login screen no longer gives me autofill issues the way it once did, but the MFA screen still does.

  25. I just found a rendering bug in Safari/WebKit on macOS:

An SVG image that uses display-p3 colours is rendered in sRGB if it's used as a background image and the element is large enough to cause the background image to repeat.

If background-repeat is set to no-repeat, it renders in display-p3.

  26. I finally got frustrated enough with this bug in the Web Inspector in Safari (and Safari Technology Preview) that I made a Feedback Assistant report about it.

    Adding properties to a new/existing rule in the Elements details sidebar will often result in the property just disappearing (or being replaced with something random) as soon as you type the closing ;
