Animals and their people: country shows across the UK – in pictures

#Photographer Irina #Werning, who grew up in rural Argentina surrounded by #animals, has spent the summer #photographing animals and their people at county and agricultural #shows across the #UK, from #Essex and #Kent to #Surrey, #Gloucestershire and #Buckinghamshire, a project she began in Argentina

I was trying to figure out how to build a photo editing workflow using nothing but my #iPad, the #Photos app, and #Pixelmator Pro but the stumbling block seems to be the Photos app. I can’t seem to edit the RAW photo like you can with Photos on the Mac by using the “use RAW as original” function. Anyone know of a way to do this without using another app?

Bust of Germanicus, Getty Villa, California. The young Germanicus is depicted before the Roman rite of depositio barbae, the first shaving of the beard. Adopted by emperor Tiberius, Germanicus should succed him as Emperor, if he hadn't died on this day 2007 years ago.

PS if anyone has tips for taking #photos of rainbows on an #android phone, please pass them on.

I was using #OpenCamera today, but maybe for unusual shots, I should use the native camera app?

I'm currently on a Samsung Galaxy s23 if that helps.

Art and Nature Photos

#ScribesAndMakers 2026.10.08 — <Our next featured creator is a poet, potter, author, and crafter. Do you engage in multiple creative activities or stick to one?

I'm a tinker, tailor, soldier, spy—

No, seriously, whilst I am an avid writer, and an author, I have more than one creative outlet.

For example, this hearty omelet I am eating for breakfast as I write this. Slow-cooked French style, but with dry sake instead of water. Cooked in grass-fed butter, naturellement! Note the golden mottling of the exterior. The interior—spinach, shiitakes, turkey, onions, zucchini, and pepper, seasoned with fragrant garlic and herbs, then sautéed—is delicious. Nobody with a nose can mistake what just went down in my kitchen! I often write recipes detailing my new favorites, and am revising an Argentine Chicken Vegetable Stew Soup recipe at the moment.

You might also guess I'm into photography, judging by the images and my media feed. I've photographed weddings and kids’ parties, but flowers and food garner most of my attention these days.

So… I'm a photographer, writer, author, chef! Maybe I should write a story with that title? 🤔
