The incessant heatwaves that Western Europe has experienced this summer should have made the doubters realise that the future that scientists have warned about for the last twenty-five years is now upon us.
Last night I tried to sleep through the fifth heatwave that I have experienced this summer. As you can imagine it was not a refreshing experience.
Coupled with the latest heatwave I read yesterday that India intends to increase its coal mining capacity (https://social.vivaldi.net/@bibliolater/117089230996961367). Even though research confirms that if global warming exceeds 1.5 / 2°C uncompensable heat stress will pose a severe challenge to public health in India (https://social.vivaldi.net/@bibliolater/117093486230995622).
How can the correlation between the burning of fossil fuels and global warming not be seen?
From scientific predictions the situation will only keep getting worse until the time humans take heed and change their behaviour. What is the likelihood of that happening anytime soon?
