Ich bin dankbar für die Erfindung dieses 'Wind-Maschinchens', das mir seit Jahren den Schlaf rettet.
So genannter 'White Noise' wird hier analog produziert. Ein kleiner Propeller im Inneren erzeugt windähnliche Geräusche, als wenn draußen der Sturm braust.
Dies überdeckt die meisten nächtlichen Geräusche der Nachbarn in diesem Wohnhaus mit seinen dünnen Wänden, sodaß ich die Gewissheit eines ungestörten Schlafes habe.

Was mir bei Masto fehlt: ein Algorithmus. Bevor ihr jetzt steil geht - ich will nur einen Throttle für bestimmte Nachrichten-Accounts. Manche davon haben eine derart hohe Posting-Frequenz, dass sie meine Timeline überschwemmen. Gleichzeitig ist da nicht jeder Post kritisch wichtig für mich. Als Hintergrundrauschen hätte ich’s aber schon gern. Gibt es Clients oder Settings für „white noise volume control“? #mastodon #algorithms #whitenoise

Recently I’ve found myself enjoying #Download’s album ‘III’ more than before (it is quite beat oriented). Few know that the sample at the end of the track ‘Moth’ (“Take me”) is from the brilliant 60s #WhiteNoise album, #AnElectricStorm, track ‘Your Hidden Dreams’ (the album is co-created by #DeliaDerbyshire of #DoctorWho fame).

As one does I was thinking about my bedroom fan/noise usage in the middle of the night.
Call it 30 years, 9 hours/night. The current fan is about 55/w, 181kWh/year.
So 5430kWh for all that time.
Which is about the normal > 1 year < output of a modern 5,000 kWh solar panel, roughly 25 - 35 square meters of roof space.

I got into a bad habit of falling asleep to Countdown and MeidasTouch/LegalAF podcasts.Thank god Jackie and Shadow broke me out of that habit.
FWIW The #FOBBV live stream of the nest is the best #WhiteNoise I’ve found for sleeping in a long time. Best thing, Jackie wakes me up every morning. Until the next mic broke. The wide angle cam mic still works though.
