This image caught my eye partly because of the contrast between the sandbar and the tidal pool, but mostly because of the odd perspective. In the upper left, a ringβbilled gull walks along a sandbar from left to right. In the lower right, a snowy egret forages quietly in a tidal pool. The gull is farther away, yet somehow appears larger than the egret, even though the egret is the much bigger species. Itβs a perfect example of how photography can bend reality and play tricks with scale.
