Very happy about how this sake cup came out. It's in the larger "guinomi" style (vs. tiny "ochoko" cups).

For casual drinking, I much prefer the guinomi-style (it's nice not having to pour so. many. times.), but apparently, guinomi cups have another benefit: you experience the changing aromas and flavors more as the sake warms up or cools down, as a larger pour lasts longer. 🤔

Today I mixed up some charcoal black and some white engobes and had fun with hakeme.

Something for the #ceramics and #slipcasting folk.
My partner found out today that #pottersplaster will no longer be available. That due to the ongoing gypsum shortages in the supply chain, the manufacturer UGC is stopping producing it and only using the materials for other industries. As there was basically 1 supplier (UGC) that kills all plaster based mould making and small run production. I think it's broader impact than just the West Coast.
Anyone found another option?

Today was a trimming day. Trimming is my favorite part of pottery. I still have 2 large serving bowls to trim, but they are still a bit wet.

My little neo-Oribeware dishes put to use as banchan plates #Ceramics #pottery

This glaze combo came out super-interesting, if a bit gaudy, but sadly, a fleck of Celadon glaze from someone else’s piece landed right on my little bowl. (It’s that light turquoise speck with brown bumps.)

I kind of like that random piece, looking like a lost iceberg in a sea of molten lava… though this bowl is technically a failure with that and other issues. I’m keeping it for now… 😜

Just did a kintsugi workshop today as birthday gift from my wife. Even though we didn't get to do the entire process ourselves (takes over a month) and didn't use real gold (it's a tin alloy), it was an awesome experience! Hoping to find the time to do a proper course in the future.
