Unbelievably, after a wait of four years, I saw two Red-necked Phalarope in Devon in two days. The first was at Roadford Lake and stayed quite a distance away. Today, just the reverse at Black Hole Marsh, with close-up and personal views! Beautiful bird.

Holly Hock (Alcea setosa) are probably the flowers I will most associate with this summer of gentle evening rides around our end of town.
Now gangly, grown way over head-height. Here's some back in late June, when they were more compact.

- 3 male Mallard ducks, mysteriously cruising my street.
- 2 Magpies, for luck (I like the symmetry).

A big old Rook landed atop the bird feeder, meters from me! For scale, robins are shorter than those metal leaves.
