  1. Feathered friends in a feeder flap!
    - Jackdaws apparently put out a call about mum's fat balls, the odd 2 turned into 6 at a time.
    - Pigeons on less agile manoeuvrers, too.

  2. Caption these "Sudden Clarity Clarence" (meme) birds!:
    - Blue tit... Amazed by fat balls.
    - Coal tit... Realising they drink their own bath water!
    - Dunnock... Stunned I'm going to 'tweet' this despite a total lack of puns.

  3. A yellow Mallard Duck Chick, this is fairly rare, which is typically a hybrid or the result of crossbreeding between a wild Mallard and an escaped domestic White duck. May 2026.

  8. If you're ever down in #Devon a walk around the fields of Stantyway Farm, in the Spring sunshine, is a good way to spend a morning... Cirl Bunting, Brown Hare and Red-legged Partridge ... worth a few moments of your time (promise). #UKBirds #nature #wildlife #BirdsofMastodon #MammalsofMastodon #Hare #ukbirding

  9. I had just put some mealworm out on the bird table for the birdies and this guy turned up and waited patiently for them to arrive. He's waiting ON the bird table.

He stayed for two and a half hours! Funnily enough, no other birdies came to the table.

I do hope he gets something to eat. Everything needs sustenance.

  10. I was back in the garden this afternoon, and saw three robin fledglings, including watching one fly out of the outhouse they hatched in for the first time ❤️

  12. We were hearing some unfamiliar #bird calls this afternoon.

Liz grabbed some binoculars to track it down, which led us to finding out there are a pair of #kestrels and likely some chicks at the top of the local tower block.

I got my #telescope out and was able to get the female in its sights while she was having a long sit.

  13. As usual #RedKites were about; occasionally being moved on by corvids. Patterning is essentially the same across m/f but I've been told the notch in tail is often deeper on males. So 1st image - m? & 2nd f?- but tail is more spread on the 2nd image??

  19. I was quite pleased to find my first ringed gull at the patch. It was kind enough to stretch to show me its ring! But is it a Herring Gull or a Caspian Gull? Help! #gulls #ringing #UKbirds #Sculcoates #Hull

  25. A very sunny #Solstice in #Hull, which I celebrated with a walk around #Sculcoates. 4 Dunlin staying around Wilmington Bridge, 2 Redshank feeding on the playing fields were highlights #UrbanBiodiversity #UKbirds #urbanwildlife #urbanwaders

  30. Does anyone else notice #Nature in their dreams? 😴 I know I'm a huge #naturenerd but recently more of my dreams are starting to feature feathered friends and #wildlife. In last night's dream I was lying in the leaf litter with flocks of feeding Bramblings playing hide and seek. It's getting to that time of year - I obviously can't wait! 🍂😍

Do you ever dream about species you see often, or haven't seen in a while?

  31. Years ago, I came up with #conservationcommitted ⬇️
It's a way to help wildlife photographers highlight their commitments to responsible #wildlifephotography 📸

Teaching responsible #fieldcraft is so important to protect wildlife and habitats from accidental disturbance.

It's gained some traction on Instagram but not much on Twitter.
Would be great to see the hashtag take off on here! Would you use it?

  32. Sp far I've connected with lots of 'new to me' followers on here. Thanks for the warm welcome! 🥰

So here's a bit more about me. I don't just post pretty #wildlife pics 📸 you get to see the messy, muddy, windswept behind-the-scenes stuff too! 🤳

Today I stood on a flooded reedbed path, waiting for rare birds to appear. Misjudging the footwear I'd need meant that my boots were beyond waterlogged for hours and the #birds didn't even show! 🤣
