  1. Things that have grown mold at my place during the last month or so, with all of our extremely high humidity, rains, and hurricane Lowell:

    1. Paper cash inside my zippered wallet inside my purse
    2. All of the tea in a metal tea tin that I hadn't opened in weeks.
    3. All the wood beads on the necklace in the photo. It lives in a container that's a plastic storage thing for components. I hadn't taken it out in a while. At first I didn't even realize what had happened to it.

That's on top of the usual things that grow mold: plastic soap container in the kitchen, scissor handles, paper, books, etc.

  6. Should visitors come to Kaua'i right now in the wake of Hurricane Lowell?

I have heard many opinions on the subject. I don't have a definitive do or don't for anyone. I see both sides of it. Immediately after the storm, our mayor told imminent visitors to postpone but didn't put a timeline on it.

Small businesses owned by locals need tourists on island to survive. The giant corporations that run most of the resorts don't.

The north shore is a mess, the south shore is a mess & Waimea Canyon is off-limits. These are the places that will be in a state of recovery for a long time. I definitely recommend anyone who is visiting NOT try to see those areas, and those are the most popular tourist areas, so...I dunno.

If you do come soon, buy local.
