I wasn't born with size 10 feet, but I also certainly never chose to have size 10 feet. Sexuality is not something you're born with, but it is also not a choice. It is not choosable. It is not something you can choose to change. It cannot be influenced by your choices any more than your shoe size.
You might counter with the idea of foot binding to make a person's foot smaller, but if you've ever seen the result of such interference, you'd never advocate for similarly drastic measures be applied to someone's personality.
I say this as someone who went through conversion therapy and survived, and I owe it to all of those who did not survive to speak out against it at every opportunity. You cannot change a person's sexuality, but you can do irreparable harm to them in trying to do so. Anyone who says otherwise is either ignorant or evil.

I pray regularly. I say a prayer of blessing to God in the morning, usually over my morning cup of decaf coffee, as that's when I'm finally in a state to collect my thoughts. Then I say grace over breakfast, and over each meal. I say an extra prayer on the Sabbath. And I say a prayer of thanks in the evening, often in the shower.
I've often thought of how Jesus endorsed praying both publicly and privately. I think public prayer is especially important for me as a visibly trans person.
When people see me saying a quiet prayer of thanks over my meal, they can't deny that I love the Lord, and that God loves me. But they do have to reconcile that love with the hate they were taught by the Evangelical Death Cult.
That's the first step to rejecting hate, realizing the person you were taught to hate is a child of God, just like you.
