  5. #AISI’s evaluation of leading #openweight models shows they lag behind closed models in #cybercapabilities by 4 to 7 months, a narrower gap than in 2025. This narrowing gap provides a limited window for cyber defenders to prepare before potentially more capable open weight models become available. While open weight models offer benefits like cost-effectiveness and adaptability, they also pose risks due to the difficulty of implementing safeguards. aisi.gov.uk/blog/how-far-behin #tech #media #news

  7. No dobra, ale, że polski tech YouTube zacznie mówić o Linuxie, faktycznie brać go do benchmarków, odróżniać pojęcia i polecać to można było nie mieć w swoim bingo na 2026. Do tego inni (również "głównego nurtu") twórcy chwalą za prostotę czy wygodę korzystania z DE (KDE Plasma w tym przypadku). Niesamowite.

  9. EDIT: Sleep isn't needed to trigger this it seems.

I believe I've found a potential kernel bug in the IPv6 stack of XNU 12377.61.12~1 (26.2) which panics the host. Observed twice intermittently.

Only occurred when a bridged en0 networked UTM VM of Snow Leopard is doing network stuff.

  11. @aral The trouble with this and with technology is:

1 - #Tech is used for multiple purposes and with multiple people

This creates a fork and multiple reasoning / uses.

    Control by individuals ?
    - Most can't do it on their own
    - Most don't have the money / time
= Most need help - even some #BigTech (at least to start with unless we do #handholding live video #walkthrough time)

  18. Ah, the riveting saga of OpenAI's #Codex model #context #size taking a nosedive from 372k to 272k. 🎢 Apparently, smaller is better, just like the attention span of those actually reading about it. Keep shrinking those numbers, folks, and soon we’ll be down to a context size that matches the interest level of this groundbreaking revelation. 🙄🔍

  20. Sunday Morning Reading

It’s a Sunday. It’s a Sunday when I can say I’ve hung around for seven decades as the clock ticked past 70 yesterday. Spending the weekend celebrating with the grandkids, dodging in an out of pockets of time when the air is breathable, so there’s only a few links to share in this week’s Sunday Morning Reading. Hope you enjoy them as much as I have spending it with two innocents watching them approach the world from that perspective. When they look to you for answers, it’s awesomely terrifying.

David Todd McCarty thinks We’re Teaching Our Kinds The Wrong Lessons. As someone who wonders why we spend so much time teaching them not to lie in a world that rewards liars, I often think the same.

NatashaMH writes about An Artist’s Search For Meaning. The quote below she included from Viktor E. Frankel, hit in a different way on this birthday weekend.

“It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life — daily and hourly.”

It wouldn’t be a Sunday Morning Reading column without at least one nod to politics, Her’s the nod from Carlyn Beccia, wondering Has America Crossed The Asshole Threshold? I would argue yes, but wouldn’t limit it to just America.

Claire Stapleton worked at Google. She saw most of it. She tells what she saw in The Voice Of Google in a piece that is so much more than just about Google and the tech culture.

Thanks for reading. Feel free to subscribe if you want. It’s free. If you’re interested in just what the heck Sunday Morning Reading is all about you can read more about the origins of Sunday Morning Reading here. If you’d like more click on the Sunday Morning Reading link in the category column to check out what’s been shared on Sunday’s past. You can also find more of my writings on Medium at this link, including in the publications Ellemeno and Rome. This site does not use affilate links.

  22. Adieu Palantir: Berlin and Paris plan an own digital backbone.

As part of the German-French Council of Ministers on Friday, both governments decided to strengthen European data sovereignty and counter the dominance of US tech corporations in the security and military sectors.

A pillar of this strategy is the development of a European “digital backbone”.
