  1. I'm traveling and currently renting a car -- the first gasoline-powered car I've driven in some time. A single fill-up costs as much as what I pay to power my #EV for a whole month. Why does anyone still drive these dinosaurs? #ElectricVehicles are just better.

  3. Political will permitting, laws can very quickly be drafted to nip in the bud the link between the gig economy & overpowered, illegal e-vehicles.

Australia's gig economy just won wage floor reforms, while in New York cease-and-desist letters have gone out to the likes of #amazon #temu and #bestbuy

It's now our move in the UK to mirror some of these positive steps:

  5. To refuel a petrol car, you need to open the tank with a key. This is to prevent less honest people from siphoning your petrol.

An electric car doesn't have this problem. In fact, I wish I could somehow upgrade my car to be a two-way battery, but it does not do that.

So why is it that the car needs to be unlocked to access the charging port?

  7. Want an #electric car? - It's a nightmare

Happy for 10 years driving a VW Golf GTE hybrid, my wife's complaints of the rough ride finally made us naively explore the alternatives -

OK Nissan sell me the all new Leaf you are advertising - the perpetual answer is "Mañana"

Sooo.....on a long trip "up north" I sat in the A/C hotel room (having failed to beat the EON RFID requirement) I explored the charging infrastructure I could use if I had chosen one of the many #electricVehicles

    MESS

No requirement to publish prices - Watt speed - TYPE who plug PLUG of pLgU- Card - RFID - Contract - Parking Fine - Gaps

    AND

... once you have become a UK motorway "eco bore" - do the same again for the continental trip

If #Burnham wants an easy target - please regulate this before I accidentally buy an (nearly) uninsurable paperweight with wheels!

    Advice anyone?

  10. This is the "thing" about E. Musk no one talks about! From the good peeps at ProfGMedia.

"It’s hard to imagine how one person could manage being CEO of two public companies and de facto head of a major social media platform at the same time. The mathematical reality is that Musk is a part-time CEO." profgmedia.com/p/michael-burry #ProfGMedia #Musk #CEO #SpaceX #Tesla #StarLink #SocialMedia #AI #Space

  11. While my wife was away I did manage to get both the truck and the Porsche in the garage together.

  12. Clean & charging in the garage. It’s a squeeze, but it fits, and my wife can still park next to it. (The Taycan is banished to the front street until the monster has had its fill of electrons.)

I was also disappointed that vehicle to grid storage wasn't mentioned in the Seattle Times' article about how the utilities are saying we need a lot more gas to meet projected peak demand.

It looks as if the next round of EVs are all going to provide bidirectional charging. In 2024, people in WA bought about 155,000 full battery electric cars. Of course it’s not all available whenever we might want to use it, but at 65kWh of capacity per battery I think that’s roughly 10 gigawatt hours of storage capacity being added every year, and it’s mostly sitting in driveways 90% of the times, especially at night during our winter peak demands.

  14. 🚗🔋 "Revolutionizing" the auto industry with... 40 cars. Bravo, #Aptera, for paving the way to mass production with your elite fleet. Meanwhile, customers eagerly await their turn in the 50,000-long line for the sun's favorite car. 🌞👏

  15. British households without off street parking can now install pavement channels for running charging cables to EVs parked at the curb. The covers for these lie flush with the sidewalk rather than sitting on top of it. Kerbo Charge seems to be the leading company. Its channels have flexible sort of zipper seal cover; you press the cable down through that and pull it back up after charging. Charge Gully, which has been bought by Kerbo Charge, has a channel with a hinged, lockable cover. Gul-E's have a slot for the cable with with flexible brushes just below the surface to keep out dirt and leaves. The government has allocated 25 million pounds to help local councils with installations.

  16. No surprise that despite the entire lot being empty, and the supermarket this was next to being closed, there was an ICE car blocking one of the chargers. #Ionna need to get smarter than this. Charging bays need to reserved for EVs that are actually charging. While I liked the Ionna chargers, if they’re going to allow this they’re going to be blocked in my charging planner. #electricvehicles #evcharging #evchargingstations
