Well, while I'll be, and have been, writing more about the trip on my blog, I figured I'd do some fast math about the trip. For those what don't know, I drive an electric car, specifically a Chevy Bolt EUV, and just got finished with a trip. First thing is how much I drove in two weeks, I thought about 2200 miles…

Yeah, that's a little short, try 2639 miles. Wow, that was a big loop, STL to Huntsville to Myrtle Beach to Lancaster, and finally back home to STL. And a true loop, when I left I took I270 south to I70, and returned by I270 north, so from the opposite direction.

So what'd that cost in an EV?
A whopping $305.15 or 12¢ per mile.
What's really crazy is that that's almost all fast charging, i only did level 2 at two of the hotels. Home charging is also level 2, which is basically always cheaper than fast charging, 11.6¢/kilowatthour, vs a typical 50 to 60¢ fast charging.

So for the doubters and haters, yes you can travel in an EV. Yes, its harder and more time consuming, but there are apps to solve some of that. Its also as you can see, dirt cheap.
