"Today, Ventura Communications Center (VCC) received reports of a traffic crash involving a Tesla Cybertruck into a ravine, in the area of SR-33 at Casitas Vista Road.
CHP Ventura Officers and Ventura County Fire responded. The driver was safely extricated and transported with minor injuries.For reasons still under investigation the Tesla veered off the roadway, crashing into a vegetation embankment on the right shoulder. At the time of the crash, the roadway was wet.
With the rainy season coming up ahead, we remind you that wet roads reduce tire traction, limit vehicle control, and increase stopping distances. Slow down, leave extra space between vehicles, use your headlights, and avoid sudden braking, acceleration, or steering.

Elon #Musk wird dich nicht zum #Mars bringen, und keine der KI-Firmen arbeitet wirklich an einer allgemeinen künstlichen Intelligenz. Musks #Technologie scheint bestenfalls dazu zu dienen, das #Sonnensystem auszubeuten, und KI-Firmen bauen nur komplizierte, aber unintelligente Copy-Paste-Maschinen, die vorübergehend die gesamte #Weltwirtschaft am Laufen halten.
Bei allem, was gerade los ist (eine #Aktionswoche in #Minneapolis läuft, ein #Krieg gegen den #Iran droht, die #ICE verwüstet weiterhin Gemeinden, die #Ukraine geht in ihr fünftes Jahr der Abwehr der russischen #Invasion), scheint es seltsam, sich darauf zu konzentrieren, aber ich denke, es ist wichtig zu verstehen, dass Elon Musk dich nicht zum Mars bringen wird. Ich denke, das unterstreicht die Tatsache, dass die Menschen nur irgendwo auf dem Spektrum zwischen #Betrüger und #Tyrann liegen. Als mein Großvater in den Krieg zog, diente er im Pazifik auf der USS Scamp, einem U-Boot der Gato-Klasse. Dies ist kein Unternehmen, das Dich zum Mars bringen wird.
Ich will hier nicht extra die Vorzüge des US-#Militärs anpreisen, aber mein Großvater und Ingenieure wie er hätten uns vielleicht zum Mars bringen können (und Ingenieure seiner Generation haben uns zum Mond gebracht). Jedes Schiff, das mein Großvater entworfen hat, hat er persönlich getestet. Er ließ sich vom Kapitän in die schlimmsten Stürme fahren, die man sich vorstellen kann, und stand an Deck, um die Wellen und den Wind zu spüren und zu sehen, wie seine Konstruktion sich bewährte.
#Elon Musk würde so was nie machen, weil sein Unternehmen nicht auf Zuverlässigkeit ausgelegt ist. Es geht um #Kosteneffizienz. Der Hauptgrund, warum ich weiß, dass niemand ernsthaft daran interessiert ist, den Mars zu kolonisieren, ist, dass es schon Jahrzehnte her ist, seit jemand versucht hat, eine #Biosphäre zu schaffen – ein in sich geschlossenes künstliches #Ökosystem. Alle bisherigen Versuche sind gescheitert, und es scheint, als hätten die meisten Leute einfach aufgegeben. Solange wir nicht beweisen können, dass wir in autarken künstlichen Umgebungen leben können, können wir keine autarken Kolonien auf leblosen Planeten gründen.
Jedes Science-Fiction-Buch und jeder #ScienceFiction-Film nimmt diese spezielle Technologie als selbstverständlich hin, aber #Autarkie ist eines der größten ungelösten Probleme zwischen uns und der Expansion innerhalb des Sonnensystems. Ich nehme an, wir halten es für selbstverständlich, weil es von außen so einfach aussieht, aber wir wissen einfach nicht, wie wir es machen sollen.
Elon Musk versucht lediglich, Raketen kostengünstig zu bauen. Eine Zeit lang war ich verwirrt, warum so viele Starts von #SpaceX mit spektakulären, explosiven Fehlschlägen enden, während die #NASA seit Jahrzehnten Menschen auf dem #Mond landen kann. Dann unterhielt ich mich auf einer Messe mit einem betrunkenen #NASA-#Ingenieur, der mir erzählte, dass das einzige Ziel von SpaceX darin bestehe, herauszufinden, wie kostengünstig sie Raketen bauen können. Das große technologische Problem, das sie lösen wollen, ist: „Wie viel können wir weglassen?“ Sie fragen sich: „Was ist das absolute Minimum an funktionsfähigem Produkt?“
Es gibt alle möglichen dystopischen Anwendungen für solche Technologien. Wie zum Beispiel den Abbau von #Asteroiden, hoffentlich durch #Roboter, aber wahrscheinlich durch eine neue Klasse von #Leibeigenen. Aber das ist kein Weg, um sichere, zuverlässige Transportmöglichkeiten zu einem anderen Planeten zu schaffen. Es ist nur ein Weg, das Sonnensystem auszubeuten. Wenn man einer KI eine Frage stellt, auf die sie keine Antwort weiß, erfindet sie eine Antwort. Das heißt nicht, dass sie „lügt“, sondern dass das, was wir als KI bezeichnen, eigentlich nicht intelligent ist. Sie denkt nicht. Große Sprachmodelle sind nur ausgefallene Textvorhersagen, die die Erde austrocknen, die #Strompreise in die Höhe treiben und bald die gesamte #Weltwirtschaft zerstören werden.
Ich bin mit Star Trek aufgewachsen, wo die Charaktere einem Computer eine Frage in einfacher Sprache stellen können und eine Antwort bekommen. „Wie oft haben Menschen die folgenden Planeten besucht?“ oder „Vergleiche den folgenden Virus mit allen bekannten außerirdischen Kulturen, um seinen wahrscheinlichen Ursprung zu bestimmen.“ Der Computer lügt sie nie an, weil er auf Datenbanken zurückgreift und Daten analysiert.
Es ist eine subtilere Technologie als der Warp-Antrieb, der Teleporter, der Lebensmittelreplikator oder das Holodeck, aber der Bordcomputer ist in der Tat mächtig.
Und die Sache ist die: Wir sind davon genauso weit entfernt wie von künstlicher Schwerkraft. Denn LLMs sind eine Technologie, die grundsätzlich nicht in der Lage ist, künstliche Intelligenz zu erzeugen. Die einzigen Menschen, die halluzinieren, sind die Gläubigen an KI.

And I don't even need it to really use the middle seat itself.
It's more about the leg room. When parked, if I just wanna chill for a bit, I can easily stretch out my legs to the right.
So then, even if it's not a bench seat, at least do something give us more cars where the front is like the cybertruck:
Even though it's not a front bench seat, you get the same amount of open space leg room as if it were. I.e., in the cybertruck, the front is completely open space, but it still has a center console. It just doesn't block you off completely. It's open down to the ground.
