  1. Which AI video generation tool is best for me?

The landscape of AI video generation has evolved into distinct ecosystems. Instead of a single "best" tool, the right platform depends entirely on whether your priority is cinematic visual realism, granular creative control, or streamlined workflow and publishing. The top alternative AI video tools are categorized by their core strengths to help you evaluate where to invest your rendering time and workflow budget: 1. The Heavy Hitters for Realism & Motion If your primary goal is […]

  4. I started forging a cooper's driver today. I got the eye punched and drifted, the working end forged out, the struck end forged and shaped, and some rough filing on it.

Next time I'm there, I'll do some more filing to get the ears symmetrical, and I'll need to flatten the working end and start filing in a groove because it'll be too difficult when it's hardened. I need to harden and temper it too. I can likely get all that done next time in addition to hanging a handle.

  7. Gamedev.

  13. Anyone ever try the #RentAnything service? I guess people with idle tools and devices put them up for rental on that website and make a little money while they're not using them.

Tempted to try it given a brief need of a metal detector, and it seems there are a few around nearby for $20 a pop.

Looks legit, but personal experience tales would be useful.

  15. Ethel Lois Payne and the role of the Negro Press

She was called the “First Lady of the Black Press” which was also called the Colored Press or the Negro Press, years ago, which brings the famous paper The Washington Bee back to mind. The Negro press often reported on issues and events that went ignored, or glossed over with misleading euphemisms, in the mainstream press, which is part of the reason that Toni Morrison tells us that our work, as Black Women writers, is to bear witness, as Ethel Payne did, to that which has been buried in our history.

Today I learned (and tried to post this on TiL in Reddit, but was unable, for some reason…) that the Library of Congress website (among others…) has more information in text and video interviews about this important and relatively unknown lady. I was pleasantly surprised to hear of her via the name of the dog owned by a main character in a recent series, and it led me to think of the name of the dog “J’acuse” (small dog owned by character Fabienne Beriot in Netflix series Lupin: dans l’ombre d’Arsenne…). Good way to use side characters as history lessons in pop culture shows. There is also, thanks to the LoC for this note, a recent book available about her story, hopefully at most public libraries, about her: “Eye on the Struggle: Ethel Payne, the First Lady of the Black Press.” I’m adding it to my list now…

(Tired, so, not sure if I will edit chapter 53, which is the ending chapter, of Passing To Freedom today or not…)
