The message is still relevant today to antifascist resistance.

Aug 11/12, 1944: On this date Jedburgh team Aubrey parachuted into the Seine-et-Marne region east of Paris to assist the SPIRITUALIST network. The team consisted of 2 Brits, Captain Godfrey Marchant (code name Rutland) & Sgt Ivor Hooker Thaler), & 1 Frenchman, Lt J Telmon (Kildare). The mission was to assist and coordinate with FFI groups in Seine-et-Marne area and undertake continuous attacks on rail, road, and communications targets.

On Aug 11, 1909, Marie-Madeleine Fourcade was born in Marseille, France. She was the leader of the longest-running French wartime resistance/ spy network, “Alliance” (later called "Noah's Ark”). She survived the war and despite her role in the underground, de Gaulle did not name her among the 1,038 people he designated resistance heroes (which included only 6 women altogether). She died July 20, 1989.

1937, #Japan invades Nationalist #China kicking off #WW2. One of the biggest supporter of Chiang Kai-shek was the British empire. This lasted till 1939 when Adolf Hitler's actions forced London to reevaluate and curtail the support. #US did step in the breach.
Post 2027 if something happens in Western #Pacific, then #Washington will face a hobbesian choice similar to what London faced in 1939. #Ukraine and #Israel will be left to fend for themselves.

Aug 10, 1920: On this date, Henriette Hanotte was born. A member of the Belgian underground, she was part of the Comet Line. She and her family aided 140 airmen evade capture by the Nazis. Her code name was Monique, which she used for the rest of her life following the war. In 2015, a foot trail was established which followed her escape route from Belgium into France. She died at the age of 101 on Feb 20, 2022.
