I could talk about the characters in my Patterners' World who change into dragons. They're not dragons naturally, it's a change they can make. The first time usually happens when they're under stress and it's not easy since it's unlike any other form of magic.

There's one character that can also manage a huge scaly wolf-like beast.

In the Damsel and the Mermaid (which is in the same world), the mer-folk don't change automatically into human form. But it's similar to the dragon changing, though the mermaid of the title has additional abilities in that regard.

I think this was my very first voxel work back in the 2000s, using extruded quad polygons in 3ds Max: a tribute to the classic 1981 Lady Bug maze chase game in the arcades, a great and tense variation upon Pac-Man.
