Sometimes dice rolls have advantage ⬆️ or disadvantage ⬇️. Advantage causes you to perform the roll twice, taking the higher value. Disadvantage causes you to perform the roll twice, taking the lower value.

Some situations may call for you to make a decision whether to attack first or wait to investigate. If you attack first against an enemy, they will be surprised and skip their first combat turn. If you misplace your trust, you risk losing your first combat turn instead.

Mistakenly attacking a non-enemy will often lead to less than desirable outcomes as well.
