Would it be crazy for me to take my Abject project and turn it into a proper OS?
Think something like firefox OS which was based on linux. Boot into Abject. Then get a machine and install it. Am I taking "personal" computing too far if I do that?

I've been using Macs and Apple software for a three decades now and in recent years I've been liking their software less and less.
old Apple software: elegant simplicity in the user interface with lots of power features in the menu items and keyboard shortcuts when needed.
new Apple software: simple user interface with most of the commonly used features available.
Here are the dates and durations of your Apple Watch recordings in Voice Memos. Oh, you'd like the times they were recorded too. Really? Why would you ever need that? Well, if you insist. You'll need Stack Exchange to tell you how to open up Terminal and sudo into the CloudRecordings.db sqlite database in the hidden Library folder on a Mac and run a line of code to expose the "ZCUSTOMLABEL" field.
Sheesh.
In this example, if I just look at an audio file's Create Date, or Media Create Date, or any date I can expose with exiftools, they are all the times when the file was first synced with iCloud, *not* when the recording was made. It's also not possible to see any of these times from inside the Voice Memos app (on iPhone or iPad or Mac). Just the recording date and duration are exposed by the UI. Thank goodness the recording time is still buried inside the Voice Memos sqlite database, but that could presumably vanish any time on an upgrade.
It's such a mind-numbingly dumb way to design an audio recorder app.

The #attack that #FROST uses is known as a contention side channel, which measures the interaction of various processes all using (or competing for) a given resource. By measuring the timing of certain I/O (input-output) operations of the SSD a #visitor is using, the researchers were able to determine the #websites open in other tabs—even on other browsers—and the apps that were open on the visitor’s device. FROST requires no interaction from the visitor other than opening the site hosting the attack.

👀 Yo #lazyweb, as an #iOS user when I'm listening to audio A and my alarm goes off if I click my earphone to dismiss/stop the alarm then I want it to resume audio A, however audio B starts playing; sometimes from an app that isn't even open?!
Anyone else suffering this (bug), it's really fxcking annoying & wondering if it's iOS or my earphones (tried two pairs now but same brand 🤷) - tips? Boosts appreciated.

I swear Hardware Requirements -pages for big industry software used to be more detailed. I feel like it's gotten less verbose and very general. How are you supposed to budget bunch of expensive computers when the requirements just say "yeah dunno, nvidia that supports CUDA and atleast 6 cores in your cpu. Some RAM would be nice" while you know for certain that this specific software will need quite some computing power and memory.
