You know, I might actually be decent at this TUI thing.
I spent over a week cobbling together a Qt GUI with Pyside6, QML and QtQuick, and while it was nice at first, I hit so much friction with the stupid toolkit, needing to wrangle my nice data classes back and forth with thin adapters to wrap thinly veiled C++ types and I hated it so much I ripped it all out in a blind rage, and returned to Textual, where this WIP UI for my new secret projet took shape in about 3 evenings, and looks absolutely banging.

Have you ever blasted 200 euros/dollars a day on #Claude or #Cursor without knowing where it all goes?
#CodeBurn changes the game.
- You fire it up.
- It hooks into your tools (from #Codex to everything else).
- Boom, dashboard that slaps you in the face with costs per task, project, model. -

OSINT Isn’t About Skill Anymore. It’s About Systems
There’s a moment, if you spend enough time in this space, where your attention changes. You stop looking at individual data points as things to extract. You start seeing them as inputs to a larger structure.https://cha1nc0der.wordpress.com/2026/03/21/osint-isnt-about-skill-anymore-its-about-systems/

i'm ewan — developer, writer, occasional poet. i build open-source ATProto tooling,
self-host most of my own infrastructure, and take commissions for things i'm actually
good at.if any of that is useful or interesting to you, ko-fi.com/ewancroft
is where commissions live:- poetry from £10
- short stories from £20
- SvelteKit websites from £100
everything's CC BY-SA 4.0. no NDAs, no nonsense.
tips are also welcome if you've got use out of anything i've made or written.

Developers are becoming directors, not typists. As large language models turn into coding agents, the real skill shifts to prompt design and orchestration. 🚀 Breaking news: #AI is not the end of the world... unless you're a software developer who loves "minimal" code and "human touch" ✍️. Fear not, friends, because AI is apparently here to do what no coder could: bring about a utopian wealth redistribution 💸. Who knew the real enemy was syntax errors all along? 😂

My #AltProcess #Kallitype development/printmaking journey is already showing strong parallels to my software dev experience, i.e. a preference for avoiding monolithic frameworks and building more granular, reliable, understandable & controllable tooling myself, and get much better & more predictable results (as a result)...
In darkroom terms, using a "framework" here would be an off-the-shelf kit/set of premixed chemicals, which I found has only ever produced rather lackluster outcomes for me, even after a lot of systematic experimentation (within the narrow confines of what these frameworks/kits allow, i.e. mostly limited to adjusting the duration of the various processing steps). Now that I've been preparing the (almost) full set of my own solutions (incl. partial solutions as "building blocks") over the past months, I can already much better control the overall process and have full access to tweak concentrations and use additional ingredients to refine hue, tone, contrast etc.
I think there's a lesson/pattern somewhere in there...It also feels like yet another example of bottom-up design to build up a larger creation process (and results) from smaller parts...
Below is one of the latest trial prints (plus its untoned test sheet). Very happy about where this is going...

A director calls AI 'gross and slimy,' then uses it for a 3-hour Dracula flick where the count dabbles in porn and exploits tech workers. Irony, or just... meta? What's your take on AI's 'slimy' potential in creative works?

The problem with using software you wrote yourself is that you impulsively add features you feel would improve your life, and then get annoyed at how other parts of the software don't have the same feature.
So I guess I'm adding filtering capabilities to the Inventory view in Exosphere now

It takes years of experience to get to this point 👌
