A weeks-long outage has hit Archive of Our Own, the volunteer-run fanfiction archive run by the non-profit OTW, after a security incident. Restoration could take two weeks or a month, though no data loss is expected. Writers are migrating to Space Battles and Tumblr, while Wattpad's support offer drew heavy backlash. Authors say losing kudos and comments would hurt more than losing files. https://www.404media.co/ao3-down-outage-reactions/ #Media #SocialMedia #AO3

in case you wonder: sites in questions were
- Clampesque Forum
- AdultFanFiction.net
- LiveJournal (Exodus due to hostile new owner)
- Fanfiction.net (ads & TOS restrictions)
- lots of private home pages that talented ppl abandoned for hellscapes like Tumbler and Facebook, and whatever Social Fad Google spat out at that time......and now I return to #writing & wishing all the best to the courageous souls battling the forces of darkness that harmed the #ao3

Achtung Fans:
