#WritersCoffeeClub 9/8: International Literacy Day! Share a moment when a reading of your work surprised you.

I'll share a story of mine. It's one of my absolute favorite things I've ever written, and ironically, it's only fanfiction. It features an original character, another Van Helsing member of the family with Peter Cushing as the face-claim. Dracula, of course, will always be my dear Christopher Lee. Hammer Horror will *foever* have my entire heart.

Anyway, I'm *incredibly* proud of this story and the way it turned out. My vocabulary, sentence structure, the near-Victorian vibe from it all... I just *adore* this story. It doesn't take place in the Victorian or Edward period, of course, it's the 70s, but that gothic feeling is more than present. I just love this one so much. I was impressed with myself for once, and I was so proud of the final, finished product. I've turned it into an ongoing series for my readers.

The name of the story is "The Cycle Begins Again," and here's the quick synopsis.

(This piece takes place directly after Dracula A.D. 1972 and The Satanic Rites of Dracula. Keep that in mind. The Author's Note is also very important.)

Just some thoughts about my commissioned WIP for a friend... I'm at 57k words now, and we also have 35 chapters live. Not too shabby. Gosh, I'm enjoying writing this story so much.

Fandom-dropping progress, August 15 report

I had a “nightmare” that I found a PSoH chapter revealing Leon’s Actual Full Name. The nightmare part was that dream-me had a ton of stress thinking about how many Leon-related canonical tags I would have to update/rename.

Monthly fandom tracking (I know it’s not the 15th as I’m posting this, but it was when I ran the numbers):

Down to 623 fandoms. I did take that break I mentioned last month, and haven’t started my next “actively, systematically dropping a bunch” sweep yet, but I still managed to hand off a few. Currently 27 with any tags to wrangle.

AMT updates: The revamped Fake News request, and the original one for Cutie Honey, are still both on the submissions page, waiting for approvals. Have I mentioned that I also requested a Narbonverse AMT? That’s the tiniest one I’ve put in for. TBD if the AMT-approving wranglers will decide it’s worth the effort.

Oh, and I requested a Grinch metatag a while back. That one’s been approved and processed! Subtags include the original book, three licensed adaptations of various faithfulness-levels, and one horror parody.

At this point, there’s only one un-submitted AMT left on my personal to-request list. It’s for a franchise that I’m not even personally into…but it involved one (1) webcomic, no surprise I grabbed that to tidy it up, and at some point I realized “oh hey, this is part of a Whole Thing that should probably go together.” The proposal is written up, but I’m sitting on it for now, until at least one of my in-progress requests gets cleared.

A necromancer, Damir, meets an enchantress and has no idea what to do with her. She's mysterious yet she is also determined to help him. He has traveled to Caldeum and Mount Arreat, battling the demon lords known as Azmodan and Belial. Eirena does what she can for him.

This is their beginning.

(This takes place during Act II of Diablo III, but it isn't said exactly when. This is also Part 1 of the "Hellraiser" Series.)

This excerpt isn’t from my new Paranormal & Gothic Romance novel. It’s from a story for The Hour that I’m working on.
