"Lord Mayor of Cork Cllr Damian Boylan said that Cork’s motto “Statio Bene Fida Carinis” – translated as “A Safe Harbour for Ships” – speaks of people knowing that when they have arrived in Cork, they have reached a place of safety."
Congrats to Orla Egan and all who worked on setting up this fantastic exhibition. Nice to see a mention even in the IT.

Iceland has a great model. The current lead Neff is from the ultra gatekeeping NGS (hated by trans folk here, almost unanimously) so this seems cautiously good news ... but let's wait and see.

Ireland : The judge concluded: “Mr Burke has paid a very heavy price for his refusal to obey court orders.
“He has been imprisoned for over 700 days; he has been fined over €273,000 (of which he has paid almost €65,000); he is also facing the enormous legal costs of the school (which I am told run into many hundreds of thousands of euro), and he is facing a disciplinary hearing before the Teaching Council,” the judge said.
“In short, he has wasted 700 days of his life in prison, his financial position has been undermined, and his reputation as a teacher damaged,” he said.

Today is the 11th anniversary of the Gender Recognition Act here in Ireland.
Decades of campaigning led to the Act. I owe a debt to those who went before me. Ireland was the 4th country in the world to bring in such legislation, and it's an easy and purely administrative self-declaration process, as I can personally attest.
The work goes on. Ireland's trans healthcare is currently dire, amongst the worst in Europe. Change grinds slow here, but when it does happen it happens properly I have seen ... fingers crossed for future generations here 🇮🇪

Some amazing details emerge in a Sunday Times article about Manna Drones, who are (well, were) trying to build up a food delivery model in Ireland.
1) Having to employ delivery people to deliver the food to the drones wipes out all benefits.
2) Simply assuming they didn't need planning permission for drone launch areas.

RTE: Irish artist Joe Caslin has unveiled his latest artwork 'Seen' in Dublin city centre ahead of Pride this weekend.
The 50ft installation features a young trans man and can be seen at 180-187 Townsend Street.
The mural is the result of a six-month collaborative design process between Mr Caslin and 12 LGBTQ+ Ukrainian refugees in Ireland. 🇮🇪🇺🇦🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️

Dublin Dyke March: The grassroots movement reviving Pride's political roots :flag_lesbian_new: :progresspride_i_flag:
"Reclaiming words, words used to hurt, to injure, to be derogatory. You reclaim them and say, 'yes, dyke, that's what these women are. This is a dyke march, this is dyke power.'"
The theme for this year's march is Resist and Persist, encompassing a number of key issues, including the opposition of war and genocide, countering the far-right, fighting for the rights of same-sex parents and advocating for a fit-for-purpose trans healthcare system.

1 - Not led by the current National Gender Service or NGS (a failed model, 20+ years out of date)
2 - Specifically mentions they've been talking with Iceland, Malta and Spain (and not the Cass-addled UK)Fingers crossed. Ireland has the worst public trans healthcare in Europe. This govt level formalisation seems overall positive🤞

Ireland: (Finally) legislation to get rid of the three day waiting period for abortion has passed, despite a majority of Fianna Fáil and a lot of Fine Gael TDs voting against.
Good, it should never had been put in place as it wasn't needed medically or legally.

Why can't women be prescribed PrEP here in Ireland? Currently the HSE refuses to do so.
