I love my work #laptop workflows so much I switched to laptop + multi-display dock at home. but only tentatively, with an undersized 250GB 13" #thinkpad

Recently I picked up a #Psion NetBook Pro.
This thing is a bit of an oddity. Unlike the rest of Psions products, this does not run EPOC OS. Instead, it runs #WindowsCE 4.2, which means it's treading close to #PocketPC territory!
This thing has a much more premium feel than the Windows CE based budget Sylvania #SmartBook that I previously posted about.
It's difficult to find a good curated archive of Win CE 3.0+ programs. Most archives are 1.0 and 2.0 and are not compatible with this device.
I finally found a single archive and its a treasure trove of programs and most of them are compatible with this device.

Here’s a question for you folks. I think it’s getting to the time that my current #Linux #Laptop needs to go into retirement and so I will be looking for a new one. What are your experiences with #AMD #Processors rather than #Intel #CPUs? I mean for things like software performance and overall satisfaction. I use my machine for normal tasks like editing and browsing/entertainment but also scientific/numerical computing.

Was mich ärgert:
Beim #Vostro #Inspiron #Latitude ist das nicht passiert, die waren viel billiger, wurden durch mich oder andere Personen intensiver & länger genutzt. Beim #Precision davor auch nicht, das ist uralt, war mehrere Jahre im Dauereinsatz.
Wenn ich ein "Premiumgerät" kaufe erwarte ich was anderes. Parallel habe ich im Büro 6 Jahre Lenovo #Laptop in der Nutzung gesehen, auch ganz neue Geräte, seit zwei Jahren habe ich ebenfalls dienstlich ein #Lenovo, würde ich jetzt auch empfehlen.

Die Beschichtung des "palmrest uppercase cover" meines "premium professional superduper beste Klasse ultrateuer leck mich sonstwo" #Laptop Dell precision hat sich gelöst. Darunter hässliche Plaste mit Oberflächenfehlern + Kleberesten 🤬 nie wieder #Dell war schon klar, das Gerät hat gerade mal 5 Jahre seinen Dienst getan, selten genutzt. Verschrotten ist keine Option, Selbstreparatur kompliziert, Fremdreparatur teuer. Bei lidstyles.com habe ich ein #Laptopskin geordert, hoffentlich ist das was.

Damn, this sweet little set-up that kinda emulates my previous desktop experience: Plugged in my laptop to the monitor that I have at my desk, casting the screen on a bigger display, using my USB Mouse and Keyboard. It's pretty nice, surprisingly power efficient despite my mouse and keyboard being RGB, the current prediction is that there is at least 8 hrs and 10 minutes of battery left. I guess the built-in screen isn't the best for power conservation.
Best part is, this whole set-up persists between reboots and shutdowns (I tested) it can easily be reverted in KDE's settings. This will make coding and other tasks easier! There is even a Type C port that I connect my controller to and game. Sweet!
I will have to open the lid to turn on the laptop and close the lid once the boot menu shows up on the big monitor.

Both my work Windows 11 laptop (I only use for comms) and my Linux Mint laptop (which I run a Windows 10 VM in for development) both needed a reboot today, so I thought I'd let them do it together - side-by-side.
As expected, not only had the Linux machine booted up much quicker, but I had the VM running with both SQL Server and Visual Studio loaded as the Windows 11 laptop cranked to the log in screen...

Conventional wisdom says that a #laptop can be used on a lap.
Reality is, laptops suck up a lot of dust and debris if put down on a fabric surface.
This is why companies moved away from calling them laptops, towards #notebooks.
This lead people to treat them as paper notebooks, throwing them around.
Anyway, I am convinced that the only correct term is
"(somewhat) #Portable, fully #integrated, #Turing# complete, #Neumann #compatible, #computing #device"
But that doesn't roll off the tongue very well, and the abbreviation of #PFITCNCCD caused people to be taken into hospital on suspicion of having a stroke -
Framework now shipped with Linux on this laptop.

hp, das ist echt uncool! Beim ENVY 13-d020ng habt ihr 2 Schrauben unter den Gummifüßen versteckt. Beim ENVY 13-ah0306ng waren hingegen nur ganze 2 Schrauben (T4 Torx) sichtbar und 7(!) weitere unter den beiden Gummileisten verborgen. 😡
