#TutaMail and #ProtonMail are by far the world's two best #email providers/services for #Anonymity, #Privacy and #Security (#APS).
I have recently (12th August 2026) carried out a thorough #research into this as I am planning to migrate to whichever is the best email provider/service for APS and move away from and ditch #USA #BigTech.
Between the two, the one that comes on top depends on what you value most on aggregate. In individual edge terms, here is how they compare:
Tuta Mail: cheaper; more custom domains; more email addresses; more established/robust Post- #Quantum (PQ) Security today; most integrated encrypted ecosystem; better custom-domain #migration; purest cryptographic #architecture; slightly stronger #FOSS #philosophy.
ProtonMail: better PQ #cryptography evolution and #interoperability; much better for open standards; much better #Thunderbird #compatibility; better (long-term) export / #portability; much easier/better to change client and/or provider later; (far) richer #feature set.

“…the World Wide Web Consortium ( #W3C ) formally re-chartered the #SocialWeb Working Group (2026–2028). At the top of its agenda is a standard designed to make server #migration seamless: #LOLA (Live, #OnlinePortability ).
In this article, we examine how the LOLA specification works, why seamless account #portability is the missing pillar of the #openweb, and how it compares to alternative models like the AT Protocol's Personal Data Servers ( #PDS ).”

Ah, the age-old #C #language dilemma: do you want your #code to actually compile, or do you want to stay married to the mythical "ISO #C standard"? 🌈🔧 Spoiler alert: nobody cares about your attempts to make C portable across arcane compilers, because it’s either kludged together with duct tape or it breaks in a gloriously entertaining fashion. 🚀💥

"In #Utah, the #DigitalChoiceAct now takes effect on July 1st 2027: it requires #socialmedia companies to provide user-authorised #portability and #interoperability interfaces for the #personaldata and #socialgraph portions a user has selected, with consent for further interactions… That is number portability for social graphs—still subject to rulemaking. Because if you do not have it, the platform has every reason to squeeze you and none to actually improve itself."

Okay, folks, gather 'round, because you are not going to believe this one. My friend who is working at NASA told me this confidential news , but i can finally spill the beans: NASA is officially running NetBSD.
Yeah, you heard that right. Turns out, when you need an OS that can literally run on a potato *and* survive the vacuum of space without a hiccup, you do not mess around. They have been working under wraps with their deep space division on something they are calling "AstroBSD."
Apparently, the Perseverance rover on Mars? Yeah, it is not just taking pretty pictures; it is crunching data with a custom NetBSD kernel.
This just proves what foundation has been saying forever: "Of course it runs NetBSD!" From your ancient router to a rover on another planet.

"The story of German scientific forestry transmits a timeless truth: When we simplify complex systems, we destroy them, and the devastating consequences sometimes aren’t obvious until it’s too late. …
Internet infrastructure is a degraded ecosystem, but it’s also a built environment, like a city. Its unpredictability makes it generative, worthwhile and deeply human. In 1961, #JaneJacobs, an American-Canadian activist and author of “The Death and Life of Great American Cities,” argued that mixed-use neighborhoods were safer, happier, more prosperous, and more livable than the sterile, highly controlling designs of urban planners like New York’s #RobertMoses."
"Technologists are great at incremental fixes, but to regenerate entire habitats, we need to learn from ecologists who take a whole-systems view. Ecologists also know how to keep going when others first ignore you and then say it’s too late, how to mobilize and work collectively, and how to build pockets of diversity and resilience that will outlast them, creating possibilities for an abundant future they can imagine but never control. We don’t need to repair the internet’s infrastructure. We need to rewild it."

But suppose one could not point to this great benefit, suppose that the study of literature conferred only enjoyment: even then, I believe, you would agree that this form of mental relaxation broadens and enlightens the mind like no other. For other forms of mental relaxation are in no way suited to every time, age, and place. But the study of literature sharpens youth and delights old age; it enhances prosperity and provides a refuge and comfort in adversity; it gives enjoyment at home without being a hindrance in the wider world; at night, and when travelling, and on country visits, it is an unfailing companion.

#Google and #Apple jointly work on enabling #DataPortability between devices to comply with the EU's #DigitalMarketsAct.
This is great!
Question is: Will this be an open standard that can be used by independent mobile operating systems like @murena's /e/OS, @GrapheneOS, or @LineageOS as well?

#OSDev #ModularOS #Security #Rust #Portability
The shift toward modular, portable OS stacks like Genode and Moss highlights the move from bloated kernels to lean, secure systems. Portability across x86, ARM, RISC-V, and safety through isolation and verification tools are key. Embrace modularity, use Rust for safety, and prioritize compatibility for long-term software maintenance. -

I think it has to do with how #NetBSD HAL (Hardware abstraction layer) is designed. I know nothing about it, but I read it makes it very easy to port #NetBSD to new platforms
