The argument has always been simple: the United States is virtually alone among developed nations in refusing to pay recording artists when their music is played on AM/FM radio. We’ve long argued that this is unfair to American performers... Now it may become something even worse: On July 8, an unusually broad coalition representing virtually every corner of the American music industry—including performers, musicians, independent labels, collecting societies, unions, songwriters’ organizations, managers, and the Recording Academy—sent a letter to U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer warning that the European Commission has indicated it may consider legislation that could use this gap in U.S. law as the basis for reducing or denying royalties to American performers and record companies in Europe.

The Industry is global, and it has the power and demonstrated will to pursue this line of theft. There are only two major record companies left, and they don't really compete at all, anymore. Except against #artists. #copyrightLaw doesn't serve the interests of #creators at all.
