Siempre fue una convención simplista aquello de que las canciones lentas son para sentir (incluso pensar), y por lo tanto las señeras, y las movidas solo para pasar el rato.
Lo cierto es que son lo que quienes las crean, sobre todo quienes las oyen, las personas que deciden, en cada caso, según su entendimiento, trayectoria vital y estado de ánimo, qué les provocan. Son híbridos en gran parte de los casos. Son camaleónicas en otros.
Lo creativo no es estático. Y precisa de interpretación o se da a ella. Lo creativo tiene su razón de ser en expresar incluso lo abstracto, y desde ahí hay que entenderlo como manoseable. El muy puto.
El disco próximo de la Jepsen, esa estrella tan querida, intentará, inútilmente, ordenar así sus pistas de audio usando los arquetipos de la noche y el día. Como clasificación vale, al final las etiquetas nos guían solo sea en un primer momento. On Wire fue lo primero que conocimos. Después, After All, mucho más firme gracias a su bajo y quizá a pertenecer a la noche.
La noche puede ser muy agradecida. Madonna lo sabe entre otras muchas.
Me detengo en el último y espectacular single. Don’t Leave Me on the Dance Floor se supone que estará en la parte de noche pero su aura es solar también.
Hablamos de una canción de bailar llorando donde Jepsen canta una melodía fabulosa a medida de su color de voz, remite en esto a la infravalorada The Loneliest Time.
Resuena por ella un eco europeo que recuerda tanto a Jessie Ware como a Robyn por el mix magistral de letra sentimental, melodía clásica y sintetizadores deliciosamente traicioneros que amplifican su onda sin distraer.
Lo mismo te la bailas, te acongojas o ambas, tal cual hace el prota del clip.
Debería ser otro must en su repertorio. Ya perdí la cuenta.

I enjoyed listening to this one the radio! I bought this song and several of their singles at my favorite record store, adding to my treasured music collection 4+ decades ago.

I like a lot of Imagine Dragons’ songs and if I were to recommend one of them, “Wrecked” from 2021 would be the one. This song is very emotional yet demonstrates the band’s versatile musical chops, with the song transitioning from acoustic verses to the rock chorus and the choral-like falsetto vocals of the pre-chorus and outro.

Una deficiente publicidad, o sea, un manejo de las redes torpe, puede generar expectativas inmanejables.
Tras cacarear, o postear, un salto al rock, la Carlota estrenó Rock Music, track que dejaba una estela rara tras escucharse. ¿Saben cuándo sientes algo y no sabes qué puto emoji elegir que describa ESO?
Pues era una intro. Un buen single en el sentido de abrir una ventana a lo que venía: Music, Fashion, Film. Un disco comprometido con su sonido, uno no tan nuevo en Charli XCX -si en el panorama musical-, pues recoge el pulso de aquella fierecilla de Sucker y su asombroso paso por sonidos electrificados de los últimos álbumes, mención aquí para el discazo que se montó solita en pandemia.
Por su cuenta, Rock Music (o Wink Wink, su contrario, menos rudo y más melódico) deja que desear si querían que actuase como la melodía del flautista del cuento. Yo hubiera abierto con Magic Metal Montana. Luego, en SS26, la Charli melódica se ganó puntos del tirón. Porque este disco no es rock en sí sino un rock reimaginado a su imagen, xcxeado. De ahí que los bajos suenen así y que los sintes, que siguen aquí: repito que este largo no podría existir sin lo aprendido por la artista en el hyperpop, acolchen y dinamicen el sonido, que en I'm Afraid se acerca a la bso de Cumbres Borrascosas y en Yeah arrebata al introducir distorsión.
La pista top es Camera. Melodía certera, honestidad incontestable y unos punteos perfectos. Amén del apagón instrumental. Una canción a la vez untempo: se te mete como si formase parte de ti, de un recuerdo, empatizas. ¿Va sobre ella o sobre ti?
En cuanto a recepción, dejará una impronta -falsa- a low energy. Yo digo que será reivindicado; otras se inspirarán en las mimbres de Music, Fashion, Film. Las famélicas, mi gente.
