Forscher warnen vor extremen Waldbränden
Die #Erderwärmung steuert laut der Forschungsgruppe World Weather Attribution (#WWA) heuer auf einen Höhepunkt zu. Von Jänner bis April seien mit über 150 Millionen Hektar über ein Fünftel mehr Land verbrannt als beim bisherigen Negativrekord. Dabei stehe die Brandsaison in vielen Teilen der Erde erst bevor. Der rasante Start in Kombination mit dem prognostizierten #ElNino deute auf ein besonders verheerendes Jahr.
In #Afrika sind laut WWA in diesem Jahr bereits 85 Millionen Hektar verbrannt, 23 Prozent mehr als beim bisherigen Höchststand. Ursache seien rasche Wechsel von extrem feuchten zu extrem trockenen Bedingungen, erklärt Theodore Keeping, Experte für #Waldbrände am Imperial College London und Mitglied der WWA. Starke Regenfälle hätten in der vorangegangenen Wachstumsperiode für mehr Gras gesorgt, das nun als Brennmaterial für die durch #Dürre und #Hitze ausgelösten #Savannenbrände diene. In #Asien fielen den Flammen bisher 44 Millionen Hektar zum Opfer, fast 40 % mehr als im bisherigen Rekordjahr 2014. Zu den am stärksten betroffenen Ländern zählen #Indien, #Myanmar, #Thailand, #Laos und #China.„El Nino“ ist ein Klimaphänomen, bei dem sich der östliche #Pazifik ungewöhnlich erwärmt, was weltweit zu extremen Wetterlagen führt. Keeping warnt, dass „El Nino“ die Wahrscheinlichkeit von extremer Hitze und Dürre in #Australien, #Kanada, den #USA und dem #Amazonas-#Regenwald erhöhe. Sollte sich ein starker „El Nino“ entwickeln, könnte die Gefahr extremer Brände den höchsten Stand der jüngeren Geschichte erreichen. Das Wetterphänomen wird ab Mai erwartet. Die WWA-Mitbegründerin und Klimaforscherin Friederike Otto erklärt, bei einem starken „El Nino“ im weiteren Jahresverlauf bestehe die ernste Gefahr, dass dessen Auswirkungen zusammen mit dem #Klimawandel zu beispiellosen #Unwetter'n und #Hitzewellen führen würden.

A fin de disuadir la comisión de delitos y garantizar la seguridad de la ciudadania, el diputado federal Rubén Moreira Valdez presentó un Punto de Acuerdo para exhortar a la Guardia Nacional, a la Secretaría de Seguridad Pública del estado de Puebla y a las autoridades municipales, para que refuercen su presencia en tramos carreteros estratégicos y establecer un esquema de reacción inmediata en vialidades de alta circulación.
El legislador priista explicó que el pasado 15 de marzo, al menos quince vehículos resultaron afectados por la colocación de objetos punzocortantes, conocidos como “ponchallantas”, sobre la carpeta asfáltica del Periférico Ecológico de la ciudad de Puebla, situación que obligó a los conductores a detener su marcha y los expuso a posibles robos y agresiones.
Moreira Valdez subrayó que este tipo de acciones corresponde a un modus operandi identificado en distintas regiones del país, donde grupos delictivos utilizan artefactos metálicos para inmovilizar vehículos y facilitar asaltos con violencia, particularmente en carreteras y vialidades de alta circulación.
El político recordó que existen antecedentes similares en el mismo corredor vial. En 2023 y 2024 se documentaron incidentes relacionados con daños a vehículos por objetos metálicos en el mismo periférico, mientras que en enero de 2025 se registraron asaltos en la autopista Atlixco–Puebla, bajo un esquema semejante, donde al menos ocho personas fueron despojadas de sus pertenencias tras ser obligadas a detenerse. –sn–

Durante el periodo 2026-2027 el fenómeno de El Niño podría comportarse de manera similar a 2015 -recordado como uno de los más intensos en los últimos tiempos-; sin embargo, las estimaciones actuales permiten anticipar que, al concluir la temporada de lluvias del año en curso, México estaría libre de una sequía generalizada, dio a conocer el investigador de la Comisión Nacional del Agua, Dante Sinohé Hernández Padrón.
Al participar en el XL Foro Perspectivas Climáticas en la República Mexicana, en el Instituto de Ciencias de la Atmósfera y Cambio Climático (ICAyCC) de la UNAM, el experto de la Gerencia de Ingeniería y Asuntos Binacionales del Agua precisó que actualmente el país se encuentra en una situación de condiciones “normales”; es decir, sin una sequía generalizada.
En la conferencia “Perspectiva de la magnitud de sequía en México para la temporada de lluvias 2026”, reconoció que si bien se habla de que se espera un Niño Godzilla (por la intensa sequía que ocasiona), es importante dar seguimiento al comportamiento del fenómeno El Niño-Oscilación del Sur (ENSO, por su nombre técnico-científico) para 2026 y 2027.
En la inauguración del encuentro académico, el director del ICAyCC, Michel Grutter de la Mora, destacó que el Foro es un ejercicio enriquecedor, donde las distintas instituciones tienen un espacio abierto para mejorar cada vez más los pronósticos, los cuales son esenciales para la toma de decisiones, disponibilidad del agua para la población y el sector productivo.
Hernández Padrón señaló: Del 30 de junio de 2024 al 31 de marzo de 2026 ha habido recuperación del agua en 94 por ciento, luego de una sequía que duró 43 meses (marzo de 2022 a octubre de 2025).
Ante estudiantes, personas científicas e invitados reunidos en el auditorio Julián Adem Chahín, manifestó que los datos sugieren que al terminar la temporada de lluvias 2026 estaríamos todavía en el umbral de condiciones normales del país, pero si al siguiente año la temperatura llega a los niveles registrados en 2023 se podría presentar sequía severa.
A su vez, el coordinador del Servicio Meteorológico Nacional, Fabián Vázquez Romaña, resaltó que en el presente año uno de los retos es pronosticar el comportamiento de El Niño, y observar si en la temporada seca de 2027 será más intenso.
El especialista en Ciencias Atmosféricas comentó: El pronóstico es utilizado por todos los sectores de la sociedad porque la política pública y las decisiones que se toman son a mediano y largo plazo; incluso, hemos sido buenos para prever la temperatura, pero el ámbito de las lluvias ha sido un desafío. –sn–
