And just to underline the point of betrayal of democratic promises. Here is the seminal tweet from September 21, 2015 just before that year's Canadian Federal Election where the eventual winner, Justin Trudeau and the Liberal Party of Canada, promises to abolish FPTP.

Canada should have walked away from the deal even earlier than we did — it's not crazy to make concessions as part of CUSMA negotiations, but it was a mistake to do so in response to sudden threats, since that sets us up for future concessions after future threats.

Amazing that the Alberta gov has shown the way to fund future cleanup of resources.

The 14$ fee for solar shows the exact path to handle the oil cleanup and prevent the future orphan wells problem. Instead of going bankrupt and skipping out at the end they have stumbled on the obvious answer that each new well hole can simply have a $56,000 fee added day one. If that makes it unaffordable then as with solar it shows you aren't responsible enough to have it for the long term.
