  1. At this rate, Canada will be more aligned with the EU, and have greater trade ties, than the UK - Brexit was such a mistake

Trump read Mein Kampf for instructions, not as warning.

So Mark Carney read Klein's 'Shock Doctrine'

"Whether covering Baghdad after the U.S. occupation, Sri Lanka in the wake of the tsunami, or New Orleans post-Katrina, she witnessed something remarkably similar."

  6. Working on writing yet another few angry letters to government sellout assholes. I don't even know why we have any governments anymore when politicians feel free to break laws whenever they want without any real living consequences.

  8. Of course there's separatists within the separatists who want an Alberta nation/not be part of Canada anymore. They're attacking each other, from within. So damn predictable.

  9. @virtuous_sloth Not being a member of the #NDP at any level, I'm probably not the right person to comment. But anyway...

I thought the major difference was that the provincial NDPs principally aim to win elections, and the federal NDP principally aims to be ideogically correct.

    Shortest visit ever.

Trump didn't have a chance to rest his cankles before he was "handed his hat'

President of Ireland Catherine Connolly is a fine President. A model to emulate.

  12. I found this article shared on Reddit, so I can't be sure it will be readable from here for everybody, but it's worth a read if you can.

It's a sober and presumably well sourced narrative outlining the efforts of the Canadian government and their sympathizers in the #EU to work out a way of irrevocably tying us together on a crash timeline.

If Rupert Murdoch's press is covering this seriously, then I'm going to pay attention and not just assume that it's wishful thinking. The assessment of the challenges, the possible long term benefits (and risks) of #Canada moving much closer to the EU seems to be well thought out.

As Pippa says, please consider writing RBC, BMO, and your MP if you think that giving the USA jurisdiction over "approximately one in three payment transactions across Canada" is elbows-down and foolish.

Remember "stopped at the border" can mean "flown to a jail in El Salvador, indefinitely."

Canadians' data could be available, not only to foreign governments, but foreign law enforcement agencies.

She gave an example of U.S. border agents potentially checking an individual's transaction history before allowing them to enter the country.

"Will you be stopped at the border because your purchase records indicate that you bought something with THC?" she said, referring to a chemical compound found in cannabis, which remains illegal in the U.S. under federal jurisdiction.
