Canadian petrosexuals are trying to take advantage of the situation in the Middle East by pitching Canada as a reliable alternative source of O&G... but we are highly vulnerable to being cut-off by a US blockade (which no longer can be considered an improbable situation). Nations are going to view Canadian O&G as a temporary stop gap measure until they can build out domestic renewable energy, which keeps working even if a trade choke point is closed, and leave Canadians holding a bag of useless infrastructure and environmental damage.

#Canada needs to stop doubling down on O&G investment and shift our focus to developing domestic renewable energy equipment production (wind generators, solar panels, sodium batteries). As long as the trade choke points on our coasts are open we can export and the long term international market prospects are vastly superior to O&G. We can also make sure it is Canadian owned, keeping the profits in Canada, rather than foreign owned like O&G.
