"Temperatures on the #ocean surface hit a record high in June, European scientists warned Wednesday, fueling fears of more dangerous heat waves this summer and fanning concerns over the escalating global #ClimateCrisis.

"Two separate services under the European Union’s #CopernicusEarth observation program — the Copernicus #ClimateChange Service and the Copernicus Marine Service — announced they had both independently confirmed the record temperatures.

"Carlo Buontempo, director of the Copernicus Copernicus Climate Change Service, warned that the rising temperatures could mark the 'beginning of a new phase.'

" 'With OceanTemperatures at these levels and #ElNiño on the horizon, we are likely to see more temperature records fall in the coming months,' Buontempo said in a statement Wednesday. El Niño is a naturally occurring climate cycle that sees the central and eastern tropical Pacific Ocean become warmer than usual for months at a time.

"The world could be heading into 'uncharted territory,' Buontempo warned.

"According to Copernicus Climate Change Service and the Copernicus Marine Service, global ocean temperatures outside the polar regions hit record levels on June 21, surpassing levels for the time of the year observed in both 2023 and 2024.

"The Copernicus Climate Change Service said temperatures reached 20.86 degrees Celsius, or 69.54 degrees Fahrenheit, that day, climbing above the 20.83 degrees Celsius, or 69.49 degrees Fahrenheit observed in 2023 and 2024.

"The Copernicus Marine Service meanwhile recorded temperatures at 21 degrees Celsius, or 69.8 Fahrenheit, beating previous records from 2023 and 2024 by 0.1 degree Celsius.

" 'It’s consistent with what we’ve known for a long time — that the planet is warming because we’re emitting vast quantities of #GreenhouseGasses, primarily from #FossilFuel burning, into the atmosphere and that’s stifling the ability of the planet to lose its heat to space,' Richard Allan, a professor of climate science at the University of Reading in the U.K., said in a phone interview."

In summary, nuclear power isn’t a vital source of energy, obstructed by politics. Outside China, it’s a zombie, animated by political imperatives. In China, it’s an afterthought, running far behind solar and wind, as well as (regrettably) new coal and gas, and about level with new hydro.”

Since February 28, the Islamic terrorist regime of Iran has been heavily decimated by the joint US-Israel military operations. Netanyahu Says Rerouting Pipes To The Mediterranean Is The Only Long-Term Solution For Hormuz Crisis

As the Islamic terrorist regime of Iran made passage through the Strait of Hormuz tremendously difficult, tremendous economic disruptions connected with oil shipments negatively impacted economies around the world. For Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the only long-term solution to the Hormuz crisis is the rerouting of pipes westward across Saudi Arabia to the Red Sea and the Mediterranean, according to a news report by The Jerusalem Post.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday said that a long-term solution to the crisis in the Strait of Hormuz would include the construction of pipelines that would carry the Gulf state’s oil and gas to the Mediterranean.

“Long-term solutions include rerouting energy pipelines westward, across Saudi Arabia to the Red Sea and Mediterranean, bypassing Iran’s geographic choke point,” Netanyahu explained in an interview with conservative US media outlet Newsmax.

Currently, the Strait is one of the main chokepoints in the energy market, with 20% of global oil exports passing through it.

While Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Oman have territorial waters in the Strait, the presence of Iran on the other side of Hormuz has made it vulnerable, with the Islamic regime having the capabilities of threatening global energy markets by attacking ships that go through the Strait.

This has been Iran’s main strategy during the current war, alongside its missile attacks towards Israel and the Gulf States. Netanyahu noted that, while a military solution might offer short-term stability, a deal that eliminates the strategic importance of the Strait might be the best route long-term.

‘Beyond halfway point’: Netanyahu avoids giving precise end date to war – Netanyahu also said in the interview with Newsmax that the war with Iran is “beyond its halfway point,” although he avoided giving a precise end date for the war.

“We’re beyond the halfway point in terms of mission success,” Netanyahu said, adding that the IDF’s current focus is on destroying the remaining nuclear capabilities of the Iranian regime.

“We’ve already degraded their missile capabilities, destroyed factories, and eliminated key nuclear scientists,” he explained, warning that Iran is “pursuing nuclear weapons and the means to deliver them to American cities. That’s what this war is about, preventing that outcome.”

Netanyahu also pointed out that the regime was able to attack the Diego Garcia base in the Indian Ocean, with this being Iran’s longest strike and a demonstration that their missiles could reach almost any country in the region, including most of Europe.

“It wasn’t an intercontinental missile, but it’s getting there, about 4,000 km. That puts much of Europe within range,” Netanyahu pointed out.

Thousands of US #hazardous sites are at risk of #flooding because of #SeaLevelRise, study finds

Excerpt: "The study’s researchers started by identifying and classifying tens of thousands of hazardous sites near the coasts of Puerto Rico and the 23 states with coastline. Next, they wanted to know each site’s projected future flood risk. They did this by calculating how likely each year coastal flooding could inundate a site using historical sea level measurements and projected sea level rise in 2050 and 2100 under low and high emissions scenarios. Lastly, they identified and classified communities as being at-risk if homes are located within 1 kilometer (0.62 miles) of a hazardous site with a high threat of future flooding, and compared those communities’ characteristics with other Fcoastal neighborhoods with no at-risk sites nearby.

"But researchers did not include all types of hazardous facilities, such as oil and gas #pipelines, nor did they account for #GroundwaterUpwelling or more intense and frequent storms in the future, which could lead to underestimates. On the other end, the flood-risk model they used could have overestimated the number of threatened sites.

" 'It is important to note that previous disasters, such as #hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Harvey, did result in a lot of #ToxicContamination from oil and gas pipelines,' Chandler said.

"The 5,500 at-risk sites includes 44% that are #FossilFuel ports and terminals, 30% power plants, 24% #refineries and 22% coastal #SewageTreatment facilities. Most of the sites — nearly 80% — are in #Louisiana, #Florida, #NewJersey, #Texas, #California, #NewYork and #Massachusetts."
