Seeing this picture from Peru reminded me of seeing the Peruvian American actress Isabela Merced on "The Tonight Show" last night.I was struck by how pretty she was. I was also reminded of how out of touch I am with much US popular culture, as I had never heard of her before.
Then I started wondering if popular culture in the US is so segmented - or even fragmented - that it makes no sense to talk of being in or out of touch with it.
