As I feared, these ER closures are becoming the new normal. It used to be that closing an emergency department would have been unthinkable. Now it’s a just another routine occurrence.
Heads should be rolling over this.

I'm looking for a 25% wealth tax/year on families worth more than $200m, 5% when they're down to $78m.
California is pondering a 1-time 5% tax on families worth us$1.1b. 60% of NY residents (not just NYC) favour free, universal childcare until pre-K, with an explicit tax on the rich to fund it.
So, I want wayyy more, to end the 1%.

So what’s the solution?
The province and feds need to do their jobs and fund municipal infrastructure and services through the much more broad and fair taxation tools that are available to them so that it doesn’t hit low and middle income people as hard.
They need to spread that taxation onto industrial and corporate entities which used to provide a huge proportion of the tax revenue to small cities and towns through property tax but have now disappeared.

Nearly lost it with the hospital nutritionist for our son - he doesn't want hospital food because frankly it's gross, but discussed with the doctor - so fish, potatoes, veggies, which I made - but apparently not allowed because it isn't from the 'authorized' kitchen, she tried to take it away and got an earful and so close to telling her to fuck off
90% of Nanaimo hospital staff are beyond great, just excellent care - there are 10% who need to get new careers

I'm holding off buying my HRT medications for osteoporosis & menopause medical issues for August & maybe September too. I can't afford to pay for my HRT & support my Mom through her surgeries & other more serious medical conditions if I get my HRT. My HRT medication is not covered by Pharmacare at all.
Sorry for people who aren't Canadian - me & my family shatter your beliefs about healthcare costs in Canada. Too many people who don't live in Canada believe we get everything for free, in medical world. That is far from reality.
