  1. Happy birthday, Tom Cochrane 🎶🎂🎵
Red Rider was my fave Canadian band, in the 80s. I loved them more than Rush.

This is my fave #RedRider song, released in 1983 - Light in the Tunnel/Human Race ✌️
    Written/composed by Tom Cochrane.

  14. An update and some details on season 2 production of the APTN/CBC/Netflix hit show *North of North*.

For those unfamiliar with life in the Arctic or Inuit culture, *North of North* is an authentic, Indigenous-led show that captures modern life, historic trauma and cultural traditions in an engaging comedy.

I can hardly wait to see where the journey of Siaja, a modern young Inuk woman, takes her in the second season.

Production in Nunavut is close to completion, originally planned to wrap at the end of April. It sounds as though soundstage production in Toronto concluded earlier.

  20. #Canadian #election databases use "canary traps"—and they work

In a world awash in high-tech #security tools like #passkeys , quantum-safe algorithms, & public-key #cryptography , it can be refreshing to get back to the simple things... like a good old-fashioned #canary trap.

The canary trap is a simple tool often used to identify #leakers or #doubleagents. To make one, you simply share a document, image, or DB but make tiny changes that are unique to each recipient.

  23. "#Sheitel: Beauty in the Hidden, an insightful #documentary, takes a deep dive into this complex topic. It explores the unexpectedly wide-ranging cultural, religious and deeply personal significance of hair covering among #Orthodox and #Hasidic #women — from #Miami to #Jerusalem; from #NewYork to #LosAngeles; from #Toronto and #Montreal to, of all places, #Halifax, #NovaScotia, #director #LyndaMedjuckSuissa’s home base. (Her first #film, Camp Kadimah—The Story of Our Lives, examined the history and ongoing impact of a well-known #Canadian #Jewish summer day camp.)

In Sheitel, her sophomore effort, she reveals how #wigs, #scarves and other #hair coverings serve not only as symbols of faith and tradition, but also political identity and female empowerment. The #movie confronts widespread misconceptions and stereotypes — including my own parochial thoughts on the subject — and also offers a rare look into the global #wig industry."

  24. Israel opinions and tax law aside, its unreasonable to expect half the worlds Jews to avoid the other half.

"A group of pro-#Palestinian organizations have filed a complaint with the #Canada Revenue Agency (#CRA) accusing 11 #Jewish #schools of "promoting the #Israeli #military and potentially aiding and abetting illegal military recruiting."

The complaint [is] essentially formally asking the #tax regulator to investigate whether a registered #charity or #nonprofit has broken #Canadian charity/tax rules. Given that many private schools are registered #charities, the complaint is asking the CRA to examine whether those schools’ activities are consistent with the rules required to keep charitable status.

It comes just months after #TheMaple's #DavideMastracci, who formerly released the Find #IDF #Soldiers, unveiled his new project called #GTAtoIDF, which #doxes institutions that Canadian-Israeli soldiers attended and their involvement with them." 🤔
