  1. Tomorrow #Iceland is having a #referendum about whether or not to open accession negotiations with the #EU.

How do you think they will vote?

  2. Raindrops On The Windscreen

3pm on a wet mid-November afternoon, and the sun sets in less than an hour. It hasn't been more than 7° above the horizon all day.

We've had a lovely day out with a guide and we're trying to hurry back to our hotel in Egilsstaðir before a storm overtakes us. We were too late.

This astonishing system hung above us, drawing moisture up from the ground. Fortunately it did no damage and we passed beneath it taking as many photos as possible!

  3. Dear friends from #Iceland. Tomorrow you will vote on restarting the EU membership application process. It is a big decision and I know you had your reasons to halt the process back in 2013. We are not perfect. We have our problems. But we also have quite a lot to offer and I hope you will decide to take an honest look again. I would really love to welcome you in the EU family!

  4. 2/ .. a willingness to compromise, Ireland has warned that it will not tolerate a 'sweetheart' deal between the EU and Iceland.

The referendum relates solely to the question of whether Iceland should enter into negotiations at all.

  10. I think this site here in Hveragerði is scheduled to be demolished, cleared, and replaced with high end flats next year. They've all been empty for months now and the house has been damaged by recurring leaks in the heating #iceland #hveragerði

  12. Iceland holds a knife-edge referendum on EU membership talks - and it could be decided on fish.

On Saturday, voters in this island nation of almost 400 000 people will decide whether their country should resume talks on joining the EU, amid economic and geopolitical tensions.

It is a referendum that polls suggest is too close to call.

  14. I got blamed today officially for "not transferring admin privs to colleagues for my 2 weeks PTO". I made sure everyone had full admin. Checked that with each of them. It was a " dumb fellow systems admin not knowing basics of windows administration".

Of course prod went down for 5-6 days. Was even called while I was on #PTO in #Iceland

They blamed me that I didn't give full admin, when it was .... Windows disk permissions too tight. The admins in my absence could have fixed this.

It was a skill issue, not a permissions issue.

I also found the problem. Idiot firewall group turned on a system firewall when it should have been off. Firewalled the apps. Disabling that fixed the issue.

(We have other firewalls of which I manage. This is corporate shitware shoved on us with no ability to refuse.)

  16. Laxá í Kjós, a river in the Kjósarhreppur municipality of southwestern Iceland, cuts through open countryside before bending through the canyon where Þórufoss is situated.

This scenic horsetail falls drops 16 m (54 ft) over a round cliff, stretching to about 30 m (100 ft) wide in full flow.

Our video shows the waterfall in different seasons, from summer to deep winter.
