Cottage rooftops and chimney pots among the trees on the Cragside Estate at Rothbury, Northumberland.
Nearby is the real crowd-puller, the Tudor Revival country house that was the home of William Armstrong, 1st Baron Armstrong, founder of the Armstrong Whitworth armaments firm.
However, the estate, which is in the care of the National Trust, covers a large area of Northumbrian countryside that is criss-crossed with miles of paths and a drive-through route.

Views like this keep me sane. I live in a city, and this is the view from a local park, over tree-lined streets, the river valley, other green spaces, and out into the countryside.
These views are so important, and I believe they should be designed and protected in all town plans. They allow me to connect with something wider, and escape into nature just a 5 minute walk away from home.
