Updated Kubuntu from 25:10 to 26.04 today and lost my Vivaldi saved passwords and cannot save any on this device even though saving is ticked and I get the prompt to save them

Sync is working and I can see them on my other devices. These are running 7.9 on Trixie/KDE. 26.04 is running 8.14.

I have created a new profile and synced it. Still no passwords. Bookmarks & browsing history are there.

KDEWallet is enabled.

In April 1994 I started working on the Opera browser with Geir Iversøy, my co-founder. I worked at Opera for 17 years, leaving it after disagreeing with investors about the way forward. Two years later I co-founded @Vivaldi with Tatsuki Tomita and Anne Stavnes. This was in 2013.

When one detaches a video to run as a window-in-window, I would wish to be able to right-click the top of it and be able to set "Always on top".

I’ve been tinkering with Firefox to catch up on the new features introduced in the past few years. Some of the cool additions include the preview link AI summary and captions in Picture-in-Picture. However, Firefox still falls short as my primary browser.

Even on my brand new MacBook Air running macOS Tahoe, Firefox randomly freezes and experiences significant delays when launching. This issue doesn’t affect #Vivaldi, #Chrome, or #MicrosoftEdge.

It really is a shame because Firefox and #Opera were my gateway to the internet growing up, but the former still has issues that persist decades later.

I'm still undecided on which mobile browser will be my default, but much will hinge on tab groups. I haven't found a #Firefox fork for Android which includes container tabs, so relying on plugins for cookie isolation etc.

While there are more browsers out there, trying to differentiate one fork from another, in terms of privacy has been difficult.

The #Vivaldi / #Waterfox / #Midori combination still has no clear winner.

Vivaldi has a similar feature, which is also easy to invoke by accident on a PinePhone.

BUT at least Vivaldi provides a good sized button on the status bar* at the bottom of the window that allows you to manage the currently tiled tabs.👍

*remember the old full-width-always-displayed status bar that Firefox used to have before the UI vandals set to work? Replaced with the very distracting status thing that bobs up and down all the time?

1. そのワードを選択してコンテクストメニューから「Web search」を選択
2. #Ecosia 🌳とか #DuckDuckGo 🦆の検索結果の言語を日本語縛りじゃないやつ（Ecosia だと"All regions" じゃないやつ）にしておくと冒頭に英英辞典の結果が出る（出ない場合も検索結果のほうにそういうサイトへの該当ワードのページが出る）のでそれを頑張って読む
3. 英英辞典の説明（英文）がどうしても分からないときは、その説明を翻訳かける

というのがルーチン化してきた。

複数語の熟語の場合もたどり着くのが英英辞典じゃないケースがある以外はだいたい同じ経路。

#Ecosia 🌳とか #DuckDuckGo 🦆は、検索結果ページに言語（検索結果で優先する言語）の切り替え UI があるので（Ecosia は "All regions" にしても日本語のページが上部に出てきたりして挙動が "？" な時もあるけど）楽に切り替えできるのと、
これらの検索エンジンは #Vivaldi :vivaldi_red: との提携関係があるので検索時に :vivaldi_red: の収益が生まれる（らしい）のも個人的にはポイント :tony_smirking:

Using my daily driver (Arch) and suddenly couldn't access my financial services website (on Firefox). Threw a very esoteric error, even in a private window.

Rather than beat my head against the wall, I installed Vivaldi and gave it a whirl. I really like the feel and speed of it, but when I tried to log into the website, it just showed a blank page.

Then I tried Falkon. And Hallelujah, it worked! Now I don't have to wait to invoice my clients or check their records. Big sigh of relief! (And another win for KDE!)
