@Tutanota
#Firefox has too much going on for a default install. Home screen widgets, AI and other things. You need to disable quite a few things in settings to make it focus on browsing. #Librewolf is too restrictive for a normal person to use. Again can be changed in settings but default experience is not ideal for normal web browsing.
I have found #waterfox to be a good middle ground, has sane settings for privacy and can be used straightaway for normal web browsing and video watching. -

Personally, I use #Waterfox and #ZenBrowser. But between the two you mentioned, I'd use #Librewolf since they don't include AI in their browser.

A web browser is probably the single most important program for me, so knowing that #Firefox, #Waterfox and #Librewolf run on #HaikuOS is a big step forward in its... "daily-driver-ability" for me

@mike @Ulrich_the_elder Yeah, #librewolf and #waterfox all the way.

#waterfox ha decidido actualizarze y ahora no me funciona... Que genial todo.

Edit: I've discovered what the issue was. It was two widgets on my desktop, one a calendar, the other the weather. I never really looked at them much anyway but whenever the tabs ran in front of those widgets, it would somehow interfere with the mouse pointer and stop it working.
The widgets also interfered with the top bar of the window that allows you to move the window when you click on it. I could only click outside of the widget area to move the window.
Anyway, widgets are gone now.
**************************
I'm having a bit of a problem with the tabs on my browsers.
When I hover the mouse pointer over some tabs, the tab doesn't become bold - which would indicate that it can be selected - and when I click on those tabs, nothing happens. I can't select those tabs.
I've worked out that the problem isn't the tabs but the location on my screen. If I move the whole browser window, there are places where I can select those tabs, but other tabs now become unselectable.
So I think maybe this is a #Linux #Mint problem, rather than a #LibreWolf or #Waterfox problem.
It's a bit weird and annoying.

The Programmer’s Fulcrum 21 August, 2026
This post originally appeared on The Fulcrum. Welcome to this week's The Programmer's Fulcrum. It's your weekly curation of the essential news in the Open Media Network and Open Social development communities with a focus on devastating big tech via Techno Anarchism. As usual, we aim to provide actionable content you can use to destroy Techno Feudalism each week. It has the additional benefit of weakening authoritarianism. IMHO, the best way to do that is to use tools from the Techno […]https://newsletter.mobileatom.net/the-programmers-fulcrum-21-august-2026/

So Waterfox just updated
The new design from #Waterfox looks straight out of someone's ars-- I mean, straight out Google's mobile design bin.
It even disrespects the system-wide dark mode on the first boot. #Enshittification much?
It's in my plans to change browsers for a while now but a mix of forgetting, having to move my stuff elsewhere and being busy with other things stops me. 🙄
Now trying to find the closest settings to make it look like it previously did.

Posting from Waterfox on Ubuntu 17.04. Yes, this is a Chromebook as well. Ubuntu 17.04 still used Linux 4.10.0.
This all runs fine and I'm surprised. Waterfox was installed through Flatpak and the sockets were modified so it would run.
Unity is also a masterpiece and I wish that Canonical had never ever dropped it.

RE: https://mastodon.social/@Waterfox/117123110618733666
For those who would have wanted to use #Waterfox on their Linux desktops, but waited for a native DEB/RPM package: IT'S HERE!!!
I just switched from Firefox. Tried importing my profile, but it didn't import my opened tabs and windows, so I ended up with the hack of just replacing the contents of the new Waterfox profile folder with those of the Firefox profile folder – and it worked just fine, extensions included!

idk when @waterfox.net became pro-AI. Being a soft fork, it wasn't free of Mozilla's slop, but issues INHERENT to "#AI" (diffusion/large language models) were seemingly grasped and considered.
One more "#foss" project lost to the world-killing theft machine. :(

@withaveeay Now getting satisfaction from a variety of tracker blocking tech. (Though nothing stops the extensive info that a web site can gather in the first second or so).
#Waterfox with privacy set on Strict blocks most trackers and tells you how many.
The security screen on my phone is a daily reminder of what Apps have hidden in them and for which you have not given permission.

News from Minetosh online (https://www.minetoshsoft.com):
Update to “AmphiCalc-1” for calculating and classifying amphiboles!
The issues with Chromium-based browsers (e.g., Vivaldi) have been resolved. Successfully tested with #chromium and #vivaldi on #linux, as well as #chrome on #android.

News from Minetosh online (https://www.minetoshsoft.com):
All components of “AmphiCalc-1” used for the calculation and classification of amphiboles have been revised. The process of entering values to determine the Fe₂O₃ content and calculate valences has been improved and simplified. Calculations are now performed immediately as values are entered. In addition, the desired value can now be determined more quickly using a slider.
Unfortunately, there are issues with Chromium-based browsers (e.g., Vivaldi). Firefox and its derivatives work fine. Sorry! I'll try to fix this as soon as possible.

Well, this is forking intolerable.
#Firefox is officially #enshittified.
It turned on the horrid "sponsored shortcuts" and "sponsored stories" without me asking.
Those stories are the last dadgum thing I ever want to see. I don't want more news about USFASH.
Smeg #Mozilla. I hope Google bumps them off the money-nipple and they crash and burn.
I'm going to try #WaterFox and #LibreWolf again.

Okay, so after making a big post about how I was looking for a new #Linux foreverhome and I was gonna stop #DistroHopping on my laptop and wanted something...
Look. Long story short, I put #GnomeOS Nightly on my laptop because who cares about production-stable?
I will say my new Browser Home (at least currently) is #Waterfox because it fit in my threat model, has a slightly tweaked interface that I feel fits in better on a Gnome desktop, and overall just seemed the way to go.
Still trying to figure out what to so with my Gaming PC (currently running Bazzite). #PikaOS maybe? #DraugerOS? Something #Arch based?
I dunno, but you can rest assured that The Owlbear will absolutely bore you with the details!
