#Firefox has too much going on for a default install. Home screen widgets, AI and other things. You need to disable quite a few things in settings to make it focus on browsing. #Librewolf is too restrictive for a normal person to use. Again can be changed in settings but default experience is not ideal for normal web browsing.
I have found #waterfox to be a good middle ground, has sane settings for privacy and can be used straightaway for normal web browsing and video watching.

A web browser is probably the single most important program for me, so knowing that #Firefox, #Waterfox and #Librewolf run on #HaikuOS is a big step forward in its... "daily-driver-ability" for me

Tous les modules d'« AmphiCalc-1 » destinés au calcul et à la classification des amphiboles ont été révisés. La saisie des valeurs pour déterminer la teneur en Fe₂O₃ et calculer les valences a été améliorée et simplifiée. Les calculs sont désormais effectués directement lors de la saisie. De plus, la valeur recherchée peut maintenant être déterminée plus rapidement à l'aide d'un curseur.

Malheureusement, il y a des problèmes avec les navigateurs basés sur Chromium (par exemple Vivaldi). Firefox et ses dérivés fonctionnent. Désolé ! Je vais essayer de régler ce problème dès que possible.

All components of “AmphiCalc-1” used for the calculation and classification of amphiboles have been revised. The process of entering values to determine the Fe₂O₃ content and calculate valences has been improved and simplified. Calculations are now performed immediately as values are entered. In addition, the desired value can now be determined more quickly using a slider.

Unfortunately, there are issues with Chromium-based browsers (e.g., Vivaldi). Firefox and its derivatives work fine. Sorry! I'll try to fix this as soon as possible.

Alle Teile von "AmphiCalc-1" zur Berechnung und Klassifizierung von Amphibolen wurden überarbeitet. Die Eingabe von Werten zur Bestimmung des Fe₂O₃-Gehaltes und zur Berechnung der Valenzen wurde verbessert und vereinfacht. Berechnungen werden jetzt direkt bei der Eingabe durchgeführt. Außerdem lässt sich der gesuchte Wert nun mittels eines Schiebereglers schneller ermitteln.

2023 was already a better year than 2020, and it was x3 in 2025 compared to Mozilla's period. A beautiful square-root shaped curve : √

Ok it's not ready yet, but a lot of people are rushing toward this goal.

Since #Firefox has decided to shoehorn #AI into their web browser (because that belongs outside of an extension 🙄), I've set up a user.js disabling literally all the ML bullshit for now.

Now I have to decide on which browser to switch to. I'm torn between #LibreWolf and #Waterfox, since both of those seem pretty committed to not doing AI.

And before anyone suggests it, I have a couple Webkit based browsers (#Falkon and #GnomeWeb) to play with, but neither of them is really ready for daily driving.

Also, I have a Blink browser already in #Vivaldi. I don't like that it's not fully open source, but the ad block and such works, it's got no AI, and let's face it, it's pretty.

I have to use #Outlook for work. I use multiple (#Linux) machines and don't want to manage offline copies of messages on them all. So #browser access is preferred over Thunderbird or similar.

Composing emails in Outlook on #Firefox or #Waterfox is a nightmare. #Bold and #italic can only be toggled following a space (leaving a bold/italic space - shudder). When pasting links, any preceding space is removed, concatenating the link with the previous word. Following the link, increasingly complex sequences of escape (to dismiss the context menu) and either punctuation or [newline, space, left, backspace, right] are required before I can type another character. Etc. It's almost the same with Mullvad (it doesn't delete the space before a link).

I just found none of this happens with #Chrome. #Vivaldi also seems to work fine.

Given all this, I'm reluctantly going to use a non Firefox browser for my work persona.

What is the current recommendation for a reasonably privacy-oriented browser that isn't based on Firefox / Gecko?
