@PhoenixSerenity Cultural story time ๐๐ต๐ญ๐ฆ๐บ. Moving out of home, Mum gave me sweet potato leaves (kamote) to grow. Shoved them in the garden bed in my #Perth uni student rental, never did anything with them, they just sat there and didn't die.
Dug them up when my husband and I bought our first home. I turned 40 and started gardening. We literally put down roots. The sweet potato took off and now, not only do I cook it regularly, I was able to give it back to Mum, whose vines died an unfortunate death years ago at the hands of an overzealous lawnmower.
It was so special earlier this year, the two of us in her garden bed in #Albany re-planting the kamote. Mum has Stage 4 cancer (she's doing really well right now) and it made me realise how important the sweet potato is for food, culture and family โค๏ธ

Walked through #Goolugatup Heathcote in Applecross on a headland above the Derbarl Yerrigan Swan River.
Many tall beautiful trees.
But this is social media and we're looking at the large gum tree that has no large branches left on it.
There are signs of large branches having broken off the massive trunk. Others have been cut off.
And a chainsaw cut has been started on the trunk near its base.
This tree may be a widowmaker.
Trying to find the species.

Holy hell, another idiot driver in a cycle lane today.
This one was Scarborough Beach Road Westbound, at Charles St; where he goes straight from the Left lane, but doesnโt merge over despite the signs and paint.
Carries on for 300m, before realising thatโs a protected island in the way and he needs to move over.
And later on, cuts off a bus at Oxford St, Mt Hawthown because he doesnt give way or get up to speed quickly enough.

Okay, that was too stupid even for me to not talk about. Just heading north through Maylands, and some guy was driving half a kilometre along the length of the Railway Parade bike path.
Had to stop my scooter and block the path to make sure he got the hell out of the bike path, and back onto the road.
Was too annoyed to think about taking a photo of the driver and his rego to report it to Police.

Water warm enough to get in slowly.
And clear.But.
Usually in winter the water surface is clear of the suntan oil slick that coats me when I swim in summer.
Not today. Somewhere up-current oil of some sort's been released.
Not smelling like animal fat - which is nice.Maybe Kiwi shearers on the beach. Of course they're swimming too.
Sealanes shop say "6pm close" but it was closed before that time. So no seafood chowder to chase the blue tinge from my skin.

Just finished a 3pg email to my Stateโs Transport Minister and my Local Member; asking them to have both the Main Roads and Transport agencies pull their finger out when it comes to maintaining & supporting a safe principal shared path network in WA.
The list of issues and faults was long, too long to summarise here, but most of the issues could be fixed with the pocket change these agencies have behind the couch.
